I had a survey from Shell in my email today. After answering the first few questions, it became obvious that they are looking at options for owners to turn in their contracts. There were 2 things mentioned (and I got to these by answering that I was considering giving up my Shell membership). One was a turn in the timeshare to Shell and be done with it and the other was Shell referring people like me to reputable resale agents who wouldn't charge an upfront fee and would take a maximum of 15% of the sale at the end.

I preferred the first option and it asked me more questions about that, including what I would do if they didn't offer that. I see this as very good news for Shell owners. If they do decide to offer the option to turn in our memberships when we no longer wish to use them, that will make it a much more valuable product and it will be easier to sell/transfer to others.

It's interesting that as I answered all the questions, I realized how much I really like Shell and what a good product it is. The problem for me is that I just don't use it enough and I don't foresee that changing. I hope they do decide to add this feature to our memberships. Then, next time I decide I am done, I can just transfer it back to them and they can sell it for full retail again and we all can be happy.
