Atlantis - Change to Rapid River

It seems to be hard to find the pricing since it's seasonal. But I see Disney Cruise Line offering it for $319 but have read other comments about $500 and even $1000 for Cain. Of course, not everything I read on the Internet is accurate.

But it does look so much nicer than just having a regular lounge chair with umbrella.

I just talked (texted) to someone at Atlantis ...the only thing can be reserved is the cabanas the lounge chairs are compliantly on first come ...She did not say anything about the Rapids being only half way only that it was still a full circle ...

It's very good that there is also a "lazy" river! Thanks for clarifying.

I might be able to handle the rapids, though. I often enjoy roller coasters. It's the getting in and out of an inner tube that is hard for me. (Although if the rapids tend to dump people out of their inner tubes, I'd probably avoid it.)

It definitely dumps people when they are least expecting it. I waited until my daughter was 8 and a strong swimmer ((with life jacket) before I took her on it. Of course, she loves it.

My husband and I both had massive knee injuries from being dumped in the Rapids, my husband fell square on his knee and scraped it a little and had to have bone chips removed afterwards orthoscopically. I was a bit worse off and have a permanent, puckered scar from a VERY deep, very large, chunk removed from my knee by scraping across the bottom of the Rapids (the wound was 1 inch deep at the deepest point, 4 inches wide and 2 inches high). I was very lucky that it was ONLY a flesh wound, that it never got infected, and that no muscles and tendons were involved. If I had not been a very strong, competitive swimmer earlier in my life, I very well could have drowned. So if you have mobility issues, are over 50 or in a wheelchair, I would NOT recommend the Rapids in any way, shape or form.

Wow. I haven't been to Atlantis in some years, but I've been on the Rapids and it was great. Where did you fall? I didn't notice that it was rough on the bottom in the places I walked or stood (of course, most of the time I was on the tube).

The first time I went on the rapids, during the very first set of rough water, I saw an elderly man get dumped out of his tube in a dark cave with a shallow rocky floor. When he came out on the other side, he was holding his head and it was bleeding.

I definitely would not recommend the ride for anyone who has more than minor difficulty getting on an inner tube in 3 feet of water.

Right there where you described is exactly where this happened to us.
