Just an FYI...

I had a request for a week in Spring 2017 since the beginning of the year which was fulfilled late last night. I had to refuse it since I recently made alternative travel arrangements for the same time.

On the phone with II this morning I was told that it had exceeded 24 hours since the exchange, and the rep needed to get assistance canceling it. However, it was almost exactly 12 hours since I received the email. I'm not really surprised that II would have such a consumer unfriendly policy of not informing customers exactly when the 24 hour period starts, and then make it seem like they're doing us a favor when they cancel it (even though they think they technically don't need to). It's not difficult to send an email, so I think we can add this to the list of sub-standard system architecture decisions they made with their reservation and web systems.

Anyway, the rep canceled the week and reset the request for an alternative date.

Out of curiosity, what did you use for the exchange? I requested a Jan 2018 week using my gold plus SBP, just wondering if I might get it. My request is only a few weeks old though.

Ken,

What unit size was your deposit? And unit size on request and unit received? TIA.

The problem I had when I got my match for September is their system never processed it into an actual confirmation (and no confirmation email). I had to call in to have them manually process it. Still hoping to re-trade to a different day or larger unit, but I'm not overly optimistic.

1-bed for 1-bed, and got a 1-bed. Just what I wanted, but then the dates wouldn't work.

I'm beginning to think II should permit us to cancel a confirmation like this online. I would have done so minutes after receiving the email confirmation, would have prevented the need to call in the next day and waste my and their time, etc. Of course, it's II...so this won't happen.

As much as I dislike RCI, I like the ability to put a unit on a 24 hour hold and the ability to cancel things online. Why II can't make those things happen is beyond me.

Thanks - given very limited availability of late I had only requested studio for my 1BR, and received studio (also offset by a day for when I wanted check-in).

I still have a month and a half yet to find a retrade.

I agree, why do you need to call to cancel?

I couldn't agree more! This is a huge frustration, compounded by time zone differences!
