I bought a Westgate timeshare (I know, big mistake) a few years ago. Does anyone know of any reputable companies that sell or rent out LV timeshares?

Limited options...

I bought a Westgate timeshare (I know, big mistake) a few years ago. Does anyone know of any reputable companies that sell or rent out LV timeshares?

No legitimate broker or resale company is likely going to want to take a Westgate resale listing on a "commission upon sale" basis, as it may or may not not even manage to fetch their minimum commission amount out in the resale marketplace. Companies that want an "upfront" fee from you to (ineffectively) "advertise" in obscure and unproductive places do not really fit the definition of "legitimate" at all in the first place, so don't even go there.

Rentals can often be successfully done on your own, paying only the minimal cost of placing some rental ads --- IF you have a desirable location / week / season / unit to offer and your the price is competitive with other comparable offerings. Have you ever attempted to rent out whatever it is that you own yourself?

For that matter, you can also attempt to (on your own) sell off your week. Craigslist, eBay, TUG, Redweek, MyResortNetwork.com are all potential sites; a few mentioned are even free. However, realize that you are certainly not likely looking at realizing very much money, even if you can find a willing new grantee (owner). If you have outstanding loans or debt on the timeshare, all bets are off, since it's not legally yours (i.e., no clear title) to sell at all until the associated note is paid off.

None of this is likely what you wanted to hear and I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news --- but you asked. Please don't shoot the messenger. ;)

Thanks

I have actually rented it on my own in the past. I know selling is a longshot but was hoping to find a way to rent it by someone more wired into the market than me

if you were successful renting it yourself in the past, whats keeping you from doing it again? =)

rental ads are free with your membership! http://ads.tug2.net

you will find most folks who rent things for you take a good chunk on commission.

If you do want to sell, I believe think there is value in the Elara property. As for renting, I have posted on TUG marketplace and Redweek with success.
