Hi,

We just booked a Getaway to the Plantation. I tried for awhile to get an exchange to various resorts in Williamsburg using an AC, but no luck. At the moment, we're assigned to 206A.

We need two bedrooms (1K, 1Q), full kitchen. We want the gigantic jacuzzi, better construction if there's a difference, nicer kitchen if there's a difference, and prefer wood-burning FP.

We did stay at the Plantation 2 or 3 times 10 or more years ago, and it was ok. I believe the first time we were in the unit closest to the main building, with fireplace, gigantic jacuzzi, sauna.... We've stayed just about everywhere in W'burg, but the WP was awhile ago.

Questions -

Way back when, the indoor pool was overheated and full of chemicals, not clear, kind of murky. Then it was closed for awhile. Did they ever redo it, and if so, what's it like now?

We've stayed in both original and newer (as of ten years ago) units; if I recall correctly, the original had woodburning fireplaces, but not the newer?

And the original had the huge jacuzzis and saunas? Was that for all of the older units, or just upstairs or just downstairs? What's the size of the jacuzzi in the newer?

We have a full kitchen; in the original, that's downstairs, right? what about the newer?

How do the full kitchens in the two parts (original + newer) compare?

What about construction? We're concerned about noise from inevitable elephants upstairs - would we be better in a newer or older unit?

They said we could put in a request - not guaranteed of course - for newer or older, so any info comparing the two would help

Thanks!
PJ

Your description of where you stayed 10 years ago sounds an awful lot like Powhattan Plantation and not Williamsburg Plantation. If that's the case, you should go read the reviews and look at the resort layout.

It was definitely Williamsburg Plantation, not Powhattan. Same main building, same pools as pictured on Wbg Plantation's web site, and listed on our II History. :)

206 A sounds like one of the older units and a ground floor 2 br.. The ground floor units were the ones with the full kitchen.

Thanks, Tony. We definitely have 2 Br K/Q and full kitchen. We called and requested the older section. :)
