I have seen in various posts that there are different "views" for the villas at WLR. We own 2 weeks EOY and stayed there last summer. It appeared to me from our stay that all of the villas face the Gulf. What are the villas that are deemed "resort" view? The units on the lower floors? On what floor does the villa become ocean view?

I believe the Ocean Front buildings have closer proximity to water.

All of the villas face the Caribbean sea, not the gulf. The lower floors (1-3), I believe are considered garden view. This is because the palm trees are in the way along with the pools, etc. The upper floors (4-9) are considered ocean view, and the villas on the ends in the front are considered ocean front. We stayed on the first floor once, but didn't like it because of all the people walking by. Didn't feel comfortable sitting out on the lanai in my pj's or having people be able to look in our sliding glass door.

All units are Ocean View, except for 1 column in one building (I think it is either 4, 5 or 6) that has no view - face the opposite side - I don't think they sell units in that column, and 1 column in each of building 1, 9, 14 has Ocean Front views but Starwood names it as Ocean Side. The views from Ocean Side are breathtaking beyond words. Starwood sells Ocean View or Ocean Side. Ocean Side costs a bit more.

Are there deeded views at WLR? I thought they were just general?

Technically there are no deeds at WLR at all because it is RTU, but that's quibbling. The answer to your question is yes -- when you purchase an ownership you can purchase either "Resort" or "Oceanside." Almost all units have at least some view of the ocean but Oceanside are the units with the most spectacular views.

According to Direct Sales, Platinum Plus Oceanside is sold out but there may be a few Gold Plus Oceanside units left.

Here is a panoramic view from Oceanside room 0171 (building 1, seventh floor) taken last week. North is on left, south on right. There was a steady trickle of seaweed coming in, but not too bad.

A young woman from Alberta drowned at the Iberostar Resort just to south of us while we were there - got caught in the rip current & couldn't make it back to shore. She'd come out as part of a wedding party, so pretty sad.

We had Blg 9, 4th floor our last trip and our view was awesome. My deed is Platinum Plus, Oceanside.

I got to see the remaining inventory list while there. Platinum Oceanside is almost completely sold out, just a couple of week 51 units left. I think there are still gold Oceanside weeks available, but wasn't paying much attention.
