Which Shawnee Resort?

We are planning to book a week through RCI this summer at Shawnee. We look forward to the completion of Wyndham's new units, but until then, we need to choose something else. The units currently available for our time frame include:
River Village 1
River Village 2
Depuy Shawnee
(Villas at Tree Tops also available if we choose)

I've read the reviews and can't determine which of the above would be the better choice. We would like more recently renovated units in good shape, a good view of the river or mountains, and a nice porch (I recognize that all of the units are fairly rustic).

We have stayed at RVII units which were OK. Not sure if they had been recently renovated (still had the red tub.) The view was good from our unit but I don't think all units would have had our view.

One more question - does the resort takes requests for views or renovated units?

I would suggest Depuy (Shawnee). I would request the first phase Depuy which are like the Shawnee Fairway Units with Wrap around porches and in my opinion nicer than the soap boxes in the second phase. If the Fairway units were on your list, I would have chosen them first. But Depuy is nice.

Avoid Tree Tops

I have to give you a warning to avoid Tree Tops. Read the reviews here on TUG. And there have been a lot of recent posts that mention Tree Tops Resort in the Poconos. You might want to read some of those too. I don't know enough about the other resorts that you listed to make a recommendation. Good luck!
