Looking to go to Scottsdale this year at the end of May. I have never been to either resort, let alone Scottsdale. Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.

thanks

I have enough extra options to rent a two bedroom and will have to rent a second one from a board member or other site.

I went last May. I own at SDO, but actually stayed at WKV. My quick advice would be to think about whether on-site amenities are important to you. WKV has a great golf course and is adjacent to the Westin hotel so you have access to the pools, spa and restaurants there. You won't have any of that at SDO. Both are close to other local attractions, so to me the deciding factor would be the amenities.

SDO is actually next to the TPC golf course, although not on site.

WKV is nicer and has a more spacious feel but you will pay more to rent there than at SDO.

WKV is certainly swankier. It's one of the nicest timeshares in the industry, IMO. The villas are spacious and clean and their layout is ideal, IMO. The beds are very comfortable. We loved it there. Taking a golf cart to the hotel restaurant for an al fresco breakfast was a real (albeit expensive) treat.

If you or your friends are on a budget, keep in mind that you'll be paying Westin hotel prices for golf, drinks and food if you stay on site. However, it's conveniently located to tons of restaurants, golf courses, etc., if you want to go off site.

SDO is not nearly as swanky, but it's certainly nice. Rooms were smaller, but clean, and the pool area was outstanding. I believe they have an onsite restaurant, but I can't swear to that. If I were traveling with young kids, I'd opt for SDO as it's more family friendly, IMO. With other adults, I'd opt for WKV.

Both are located very conveniently, so location is a push.

At the end of May, Arizona is starting to cook, so you may find decent rates from Starwood itself. And don't rule out II Getaways, either. Otherwise, I agree that SDO should be cheaper to rent than WKV.

We prefer WKV. We walk over to the hotel almost every day and walk just past the hotel to the adjacent shopping center. There's so much to do right there yet the pool at facilities at the Villas don't feel crowded. We always consider SDO but end up at WKV every time.

I have only stayed at SDO and really liked it. The pool area was not crowded at all and has the feel of more family friendly type of resort, not mega big. They have a pool bar/grill but no restaurant onsite.
