I was contacted today from a gentleman in Texas who claims he was given a list of names of selling prospects from Asset Property Trader. This company is in Atlanta, Ga. Can't find any info from BBB, Yellow or White Pages about them. Just an address and 1-800 number. After answering a few questions about my TS, the gentleman wanted to buy my TS since he was already pre-approved by Asset Property Traders and had given them a 5K deposit during a sales presentation in NYC. He and asked me to get in contact with them to work out all the details. I have not called but I read the glowing testimonials about them. From what I've read they get a portion of the sale price from me in escrow and return it to me when the sale is completed.
I had never given any information to this company about my wanting to sell my TS. This all came withing 48 hours of being contacted by Timsharerentorsell.com who I never called back after reading this forum site! This all sounds too suspicious and I want to know if others have had the same experience? Could this possibly be legit?

No,as Denise correctly states it is NOT legit. We see it a couple times a day t seems, different names, always impressive sounding, asking eventually for money up front for a supposed sale at a price that would never happen. It is a scam - do not attempt to deal with them or you will lose money. Period.

SCAM for sure. It is very common for the scam to involve a claim that you will get your money back at closing. There is no buyer and you will not get your money back.

Do not give them any money. They have all kinds of reasons (lies) as to why your money is safe and why there is no risk to you. Don't believe it. They are not in the business of selling or renting timeshares. They are in the business of scamming timeshare owners.

More on Assett Property Managers, LLC out of Atlanta

OK had a new a more creative contact this time. Asset Property Traders had a potential owner who was going down a list of provided owners for the Manhattan club call me to discuss terms. The man, "Jason" said he was tired of paying the high hotel prices, had seen a presentation by Asset Property Traders for the Manhattan club and was interested in buying. I gave him a price which he accepted, without haggeling and let me know that his broker would be calling me. Next day Asset PTraders call to set up terms. Checked their website and googled name and had eight people laud their great performance. (presumed false) Yes I needed to pay a fee up front. I sent them the paperwork back along with an affidavide that warranted that I would: not inhibit the sale; that there were no encumberances against the property and; the annual fees were already paid in advance. Since I did not include their money, which of course I would get back once the sale closed, I have not heard from them again except that "Jason" did call back and say they had a problem. Bam, end of deal.
They are supposedly doing business out of Atlanta. I call the BBB, no record. I called the Attorney General of GA and filed a complaint and let them know the scam was ongoing if they wanted to act. No interest they said they were "investigating". Their LLC was not listed in GA to do business based upon the Secretary of States websites for legitimate businesses. I wish we could catch these folks who are preying on the hopes of others.
