Just got back from a presentation put on my Transfer On the Spot. They gave out a lot of good information, although nothing I didn't already know after being a sucker and buying a timeshare. I was prepared to give away my timeshare knowing that there is no demand for one but the cost of letting them have it was shocking! My is a Wyndham in Branson for 84000 points and $503.08 annual fees; nothing special there I know. The cost to give it to them was $4795 but if we signed up right then it was discounted to $4182 BUT because it was only $3 over $500 in fee it was moved to the lower bracket and the cost would be $3736. Now I know keeping it will cost a lot more but really! I called Wyndham and the cost of a deed transfer is $299.00 and it takes 8 to 10 weeks to complete. The bigger problem is a person to take over the timeshare "free". Transfer On the Spot already has two companies in their pocket for that but they are taking advantage of people who are stuck! I decided to try some other people we are aquanted with that are owners and see if they what more points, and pay the $299.00 myself. I can always call Transfer On the Spot and sign up over the internet if it comes down to it.
It was just a shock, and felt like I was in a car sales or TimeShare presentation, pressure to sign and everything! :annoyed:

Please consider giving your timeshare away to a private individual who would like to own it, before you spend a cent with a company like this.

Why?
-You can give it away yourself for nearly no cost.
-You can control the transfer process to make sure it is truly transferred out of your name.
-You won't have to deal with companies that may or may not be Legit.
-You can transfer it to a private individual who will be happy to have it for their own use.
-You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you ended your ownership legally and ethically.

There are two places on TUG where you can give away your TS's for free (no charge for the Ads.) There are other cheap and free sites on the internet, as well.

TUG Marketplace - the only cost is your TUG membership - $15 (List it for $1 and it will automatically go in the Bargain Basement Ads.)

Bargain Deals - Totally FREE! - just write a simple post with all the pertinent info. In your post, include the following info.:
-resort name
-unit size
-season owned
-maintenance fee
-current reservations

To make it more attractive I would:

1) Pay 2011 maintenance fees and don't ask for reimbursement.

2) Pay for the title transfer (you can get a simple professional transfer for about $100) I've used this licensed document Prep. company and the owner is a Tugger. - Note, this is my personal recommendation, not as a representative of TUG.

3) Reserve a popular holiday week in 2011 for the new owner

Good luck!

I just posted my timeshare to give it away for 1 dollar. But I am unclear about how do I go about transferring and doing a deed.
Any company that tuggers can recommend?

In my post above, I recommended a deed preparation company who will do the transfer for about $100 - the owner of that company has retired, and he has turned his business over to Lisa Short - Lisa has been getting good reviews on TUG.
