I am a new owner and have a points membership with my home resort being Ocean Blvd. I am visting the resort for the first time but did not book during ARP. I have read other threads that stated only owners can stay in certain towers. I was wondering if you book online how does the resort know that you would be an owner to possibly give you a better location on you room? Or am I way off and misunderstood the other thread.

Also a question on RCI last minute getaways. Can you book this only for the RCI member or can you book a guest reservation too? Thanks for you help!

I don't know the specifics of OB, but they will know you are an owner because you are not using a Guest Certificate nor are you booking via RCI exchange. "Owner" is the default.

Although now I re-read your post and I think you are referring to being an OB owner vs. any other Wyndham resort owner. That I don't know, but generally rooms are not assigned until day of check-in and are prioritized by booking date. VIP Gold/Platinum members can put in requests for specific rooms, but these are filled on an as-available basis.

ARP only allows you to book earlier. It doesn't give any preferential treatment in room assignment (other than if you are booking during the ARP period, you are more likely to be able to request and secure a specific unit if you are VIP Gold/Platinum).

Once the reservations are in, it's pretty much first come first served as stated based on time of check in, although they will take your requests and do the best they can to honor it.

At Ocean Boulevard, the block of units they tend to deposit to RCI are in Tower 4 across the street. So booking through an RCI exchange you are unlikely to be in one of the oceanfront towers 1, 2, or 3.

At Ocean Boulevard each tower has its own points chart. When you see available units online you can tell which tower it is in by the number of points assigned to the reservation. You will also note that the points chart specifies whether it is ocean front, ocean view, upper and lower floors, etc. It is one of the more complicated points charts in the Wyndham system, but if for example you reserve a 2-BR ocean front lower level unit for week 30 in tower 2 for 375K points that’s what you will get. You will not be put in a different tower or different view because of the difference in required points. Also it doesn't matter which tower your ownership is assigned to, in fact your ownership gives you ARP at all the Myrtle Beach Wyndham resorts.

I'm learning lots thanks to everyone.

We're passing on what we've learned from others...

It's a good point that was made about the ARP rights at Myrtle Beach. That's unique within the system, and not everyone knows it. Your points go much further at Seawatch, Westwinds, and Towers on the Grove than they do at Ocean Boulevard, so your ARP is more valuable at those other locations (as they do book earlier as a result of costing fewer points).
