Grand Mayan - Cabo -pool

Any heated pool at the resort? Do they charge for the gym - whirlpools
How is the activities? Been to the Grand Mayan Riviera and the suite was nice- balcony with lounger - is it similar? thanks

There are a number of TUG reviews for this property, but it is listed as Vidanta Los Cabos (Grand Mayan).

It is a great resort - all units do have the nice decks and an ocean view. I do not remember the pool being heated - most of the Mayan World pools are not. There was extensive renovation after the hurricane in Cabo a couple of years ago (it took them a year to complete), and they could have added heaters when they did the pool as part of the reno, but I would not count on it. We really enjoyed our 2 weeks there in February 2010. We liked Cabo San Jose as it is a much quieter town than Cabo San Lucas. We are not big into bar-hopping and partying late at night.

When we were there in 2013, there was a heated pool and an unheated pool.
They called the unheated one, the Canadian pool.
This was before the big storm.

Hey, I resemble that comment. And swam in that pool. I AM Canadian...

We were there in March '11 IIRC. I don't think the pools were heated at all as they cascaded into each other. The last pool in the chain (nearest the beach) was the warmest of the 3 levels and was swimmable in March.

The plunge pool on our balcony was always ice cold. I think they may have refilled it each day while we were out? It was cold even for our thick Canadian hides.

The resort was pretty full when we were there, but not a lot of activities in the resort. No problem grabbing a lounger poolside, or just hang out on the balcony with some home-made margaritas. Tons to do outside. Whale watching was incredible, X-rails in the desert, and lots of walks into town for dining and galleries/shopping. Had a small rental car too for getting around further afield (trips to Cabo San Lucas mostly).

I was there October 2015 after the renovations had been made due to the storm damage. Early morning the pool was somewhat cold, but warmed up a little as the day went on.

My error, it was February 2012 when we were at the GM. The pool closest to the beach was the heated pool.

We were there around Labor Day 2015. We talked to some of the people working on repairs. They explained the water in the soaker pools and the main property pools were all circuated together. That way as the water in the pools heats up so does the water in the soaker pools on the balconies. And we found our soaker pool quite comfortable in the early evening which is when we were using it.

Because of all the new landscaping most of the units on the first 2 floors do not have a view any more.

I am sure these resort reviews are still valid :

The addition of Omnia Club by Hakkisan Group / partnering with Vidanta - is the question .
There are reports of it being “ less quiet “ than some prefer .

Vidanta Los Cabos is all Grand Mayan level and has about 300 suites.

If you go there for the quietness, you won’t be happy if you are anywhere near the Omnia Club. It is a noisy “boom boom boom” all the time that it is open. It is an exclusive club which caters to the affluent young party going locals and they do party. It’s very hard to sit by the pool and talk to your friends and neighbours.

Just looked on RCI / I have weeks (& my booking window is currently through May 2021)

As you likely know - owners call Vidanta reservations / no on line view portal .
