I own a 2 bedroom Odd year at WKV. I have banked 60,100 of my 148,100 staroptions from 2015. My question is, if I only use a portion of those 60,100 in 2016 can I bank the remaining options for 2017 and do I need to pay an additional fee?

Thanks

They are already banked for two years from your use year, so they are banked to Dec 2017. You can use in either 2016 or 2017.

Best,

Greg

You can bank any number of Staroptions, and they are good for 2 years.

Every time you bank Staroptions, there is a fee, starting at $99 for non-Elite owners. (Elite Owners own multiple weeks.) But there is no fee when you use them.

The deadline to bank Staroptions for non-Elite owners is July 1.

Is there any other restriction? i.e. if a week starts on July 2, can you still bank by July 1? (My guess is no but I am not well versed in SVN)

Yes: You have to cancel a reservation before you can roll the Staroptions over, and reservations that are cancelled within 60 days of check-in are restricted, and the Staroptions can't be rolled over. So any reservations must be cancelled 61 days before check-in.

In your scenario, the reservation would have to be cancelled around May 2.

If you bank 2015 staroptions, could they still be used in 2015 or do you have to wait until the next year?

Once you bank them, they have been move to the next year, and are not available in the current year - during the process you are told that it's irrevocable.

But you don't have to wait until the next year to MAKE a reservation, you just make a reservation that is IN the next year.

In other words, as soon as you roll them over (from 2015 to 2016) you can make a 2016 reservation - under the regular Staroptions reservation rules - 8 mos. before check-in.

So right now, the Staroption reservation window is open for Jan. 1 - June 7, 2016.

With Starwood, the "year" on the Staroptions refers to the use year, not when you can initiate a reservation.

I am still really new to this so was wondering what happens to the small amounts of StarOptions that you might have leftover when you stay at one of the lower "cost" resorts or during off-season. I think there are some scenarios where you might have 20,000 or 25,000 SOs left (or less). Can you roll them over? I thought I saw a comment you can only roll over if you make and cancel a reservation first, but I don't know if you can do that with so few SOs.

Thanks!

You can roll any number of Staroptions over to the next year for a fee of $99, but the deadline is July 1. So it's too late this year, unless you are an Elite Owner.

Cancellation: If you have a reservation, and you decide not to use it, you must cancel the reservation at least 61 days before check-in if you want to roll the Staroptions over. If you don't do it at 61 days or earlier, then you cannot roll the Staroptions over, because they will be restricted.

If the Staroptions are just sitting in your Acct., then there is no reservation to cancel, and you can roll them over - before July 1.
