I had a 10 day reservation starting on 5/25/2016 (Wednesday). I called Starwood (Elite line) yesterday and was told that the reservation had to be cancelled (just like they had done multiple times for me) before they could rebook a shorter stay. However, this time I was told there was no guarantee I could rebook it. I asked if this was a new procedure because I had done this before with a guarantee I could rebook the shorter stay (since I already had the nights). Then I was told this was not new. So I decided to call this AM hoping for a better answer.

This AM I called and was able to do what I needed with one unit but was told that the second unit could not be rebooked with a Saturday Check In. Supposedly, Harborside restricted Saturday arrivals because of the Holiday.

I think this makes sense because of the way Harborside does daily check ins per building. Even though I had a reservation that included all the nights I needed, my reservation check in day was not Saturday.

Has anyone experienced this?

Unfortunately, Owner Services gives out a lot of incorrect info.

When you get the wrong info., ask for Owner Resolution Services.

Yes, last year I tried to do the same thing to shorten my reservation and was told they only allowed a certain number of check-ins on a given day and I could not shorten my reservation to a Sat check-in. I ended up shortening the reservation, but had to check in Fri instead of Sat, they would have also let me check in Sun. I've only experienced this for Sat check ins at HRA.

But, never had them tell me my reservation was not guaranteed.

I know this was discussed in a different thread, but online summer availability looks really bad (non existent). I hope posters are right and reservations can be made over the phone.
