Around the middle of November I purchased a Wyndham package on Ebay. The closing company sent the title work quickly, and my wife and I signed immediately. The seller signed and all seemed well. Long story short, the seller was not the only name on the deed and the titlework is now been held up for 4 months and counting while they get the other signature. My money, of course, was paid at the time of the sale.

Do I have the right to back out and hope to get my money back? Do I have any options?

Don't Get Your Hopes up

I have bought a half dozen resale properties ... All Wyndham! I have waited as long as 13 months and 10 months on two of the transactions and had another where Wyndham with held all of the current year points. On my last resale the owner actually deposited the points with Wyndham before the sale went thru and booked us a 2 br unit at Bonnet Creek ... But don't ever expect any quick turn arounds .... All have been at least 4-8 months,

It can be frustrating, but don't abandon hope. Especially if the seller is responsible for the maintenance fees while the property is being transferred, and the points to be transferred have been specified, it isn't necessarily a bad thing if it takes awhile.

In some cases, upon calling Wyndham, I've found some that would never transfer due to foreclosure, or the contract had already been traded in, etc. It doesn't sound like that is the situation here, so you should be okay.

Agree with the above - Wyndham transfers are typically s-l-o-w….

I bought a Wyndham resale in August. The Wyndham title office told me they received it the first week of Dec., and they didn't complete the transfer until mid-February...

A lot depends on the eBay seller's rating. The question is, is he/she going to keep your money if the deal goes south or refund you if it drags out too long or fails to materialize? Also factor in how much money is involved and if you can cancel and recoup your money you paid.
