"Coral Resorts, parent to Port O’Call at Shipyard Plantation, Island Links, Coral Sands and Coral Reef resorts, is facing at least 25 lawsuits in Beaufort County, most of them from people claiming that they were deceived by sales pitches and signed contracts that didn’t reflect what they had been told.

All the pending cases (plus any future cases) have been assigned to Circuit Court Judge Ernest Kinard in order to “promote the efficient and expeditious disposition of uniform rulings and … conserve the resources of the parties, their counsel and the judiciary”, per a ruling by SC Chief Justice Jean Toal in the matter of “multiple plaintiffs vs. Coral Resorts, LLC”.

At least 17 of the pending cases are being represented by attorneys Joe DuBois and Zach Naert, all alleging misrepresentation of product and unfair trade practices.

This isn’t Coral Resorts’ first time around the track for complaints about its sales practices. In 2005 they were hauled in front of the S.C. Real Estate Commission to discuss those sales practices, about which the Commission had received a hefty number of complaints. The outcome was that no sanctions or anything like that were imposed, but the company promised to clean up its act and behave.

However, by the start of 2005 at least six lawsuits had already been filed against the company and in 2006 Columbia-based attorney George McMaster slapped Coral Resorts LLC and developer R. Dwight Trew with 18 lawsuits alleging fraudulent sales practices at Coral Sands and Island Links timeshare developments. And the lawsuits have been piling up ever since."

Island Links has had it's up and downs over the years. I like the resort and location. I just wish the management company was more owner friendly. The floating reservation system has worked well for me.
