RCI/Disney Exchange timetable

I have an OGS with RCI for Disney for June of 2015. My question to the group is, what kind of a typical timeframe should I be looking at for getting my exchange? How far out does Disney deposit rooms on average? I did all but two of the resorts, so hopefully I won't have any issues getting in, but I can't book the San Antonio portion of the trip until I know if they found me a Friday or a Saturday check-in. As always, thanks for the help.

Right now the average for DVC deposits is 4 to 5 months out. DVC members can reserve their home resort at 11 months out and other resorts a 7 months out. That means you never see deposits before 11 months and normally not before 7 months out.

For point of reference, the Bay Lake Tower 2BR I am sitting in right now was confirmed in early December. So, you might need to be pretty patient and/or make a guess for San Antonio if that inventory is in demand.

Thanks for the information, very helpful. I think I will just book a full week in San Antonio even though I won't need more than five days at most, that way it doesn't matter what days we need.

Just thought of another question that I probably should have asked when I set my search up.....If RCI finds a match for me, how do they contact me? Phone or e-mail? Do I have time to deposit points into my account, or do they just move on to the next person? Thanks for the help.

I was contacted both by email and phone, notifying me of a match. I think they give you 48 hours to decide to accept or release the match.

FWIW, I NEVER got an email or any contact when my OGS matched. I knew deposits were happening around that time (5-6 months from my check in date) so I've been deligently checking everyday when I found it.

My suggestions:
Have your OGS running as soon as possible.
Think about alternative back-up plans - other resorts to add to the search or a reservation which may be cancelled without penalty.
Start actively watching at 7 months out from your first check-in date.
If no match by 5+ months out, broaden the OGS to include all acceptable DVC properties.
If no match by 4+ months out, seriously consider accepting a non-DVC exchange or anticipate the back-up plan is very likely needed.

It's currently mid-April, ~7 months out from mid-November. Early November bulk deposits could be added anytime through the next 2 months. Thanksgiving week is rarely deposited.

If you really want it, you've got to have sufficient points in your account, associated with the OGS. Can't just go fishing without the right bait.

When RCI gets the deposits, they only look at OGS's with enough points available to actually confirm. Otherwise, lesser OGS's could successively tie up deposits (holds) without producing actual exchange revenue, and leaving members with sufficient points waiting longer for a desired confirmation. An OGS without enough points is bypassed and you'd never know what you missed.

Online OGS working yet?

Has anyone found the OGS link on the "new, improved" but less functional Wyndham RCI Portal?

This may have changed with the new RCI policies (lower minimum deposit, search first, etc.) that were enacted last December. I just got off the phone with a Wyndham RCI rep and according to him, an OGS can be initiated with as little as 10k minimum points on deposit with RCI. Once a match occurs you have a day r two to get the requisite amount deposited to confirm.

Some of the mini-system portals have different rules. Wyndham is one of them. But, for "straight weeks" you have to have sufficient TPU in the deposit line pledged to the OGS to get a match.

I had set up an OGS (Online) about a week before, and when they "Updated" the site, the link totally disappeared. I called in to have an OGS search set up then spent a while on the phone with the IT department while they tried to figure out if I was just crazy or if the link really was missing. Tim, in IT, said it was not on the list of known problems and logged into my account to see first hand what I was seeing. Anyway, long story short, he put in a "fix request". I was then able to modify the OGS online, but a couple of days later, I received an "Ongoing Search Modification Acknowledgement" email and on the second page is said "5. Modifications: This ongoing search can only be modified by telephone, facsimile, mail, or in person at RCI's Carmel, Indiana office. Ability to modify an ongoing search online is not available at this time." Number 6 was something similar regarding cancellations. I can now neither create an OGS, Modify an OGS or see the details of my OGS. The website shows I have one, but I had to call in to verify what it was and that it was still working. (This was all through the Wyndham Portal.)

I called in yesterday and eventually got to a web services rep who was mostly familiar with the standard RCI site. She manually built an OGS for me, which I can now see through the Wyndham RCI portal, and supposedly modify. We'll see if that lasts more than a week!

Have you tried going through the direct RCI website at all? Or is that even possible for manipulating Wyndham deposits?
