We are RCIpoints members, plus Wyndham points owners with fixed week at Club Orlando, managed by Westgate. To exchange Club Orlando, we join II each year. Currently, we pat MF on all 3 timeshares, plus exchange fees. At owners's presentation 4/7/2014, wyndham offered PIC contract that would allow consolidation of accounts & gain us VIP status. Contract was attractive as it seemed to allow using points to pay Wyndham MF plus discount on using points for vacations. The price was $60,000!. We balked...sales rep came back to say there'd been mistake. We were entitled to better price, as we bought into Wyndham just last year (2013). What would be fair price? Is PIC different from PIC Express? Is PIC a valid way to achieve VIP status?

We will ask to take offer home to study. Would appreciate feedback!

Pic is a valid way to VIP. But it still ain't cheap

And you will still be paying the same mf on your weeks as you are paying now plus a little extra to Wyndham to pic them. Plus the mf on the new points

How many Wyndham points will you be buying if you do this?
And what level of VIP are you gong for?
The answer isn't too important but it would help me make my case that there is no way it's with the money

Don't do it. I'm sure you will regret it if you do

Never heard of PIC Express -- sure it is just a "fancy" word that sales team is using to "dress" up their overpriced offer to you.

Of the 3 levels of VIP (Silver, Gold and Platinum) -- Silver is just about the worthless one with a 25% discount and unit upgrades at 30 days out. But all of them are overpriced if you are paying TENS of THOUSANDS of dollars.

Put that $60K in an investment fund for your retirement - 3% with compounded interest would increase to over $80K in 10 years.

If you signed nothing --- RUN AWAY and ENJOY the your vacation. These clowns care nothing other than getting a commission check for themselves with whatever falsehood they can get you to believe. They smell blood and you are the game.

Based on the ABOVE link - PIC Express is just a limited 5 year term of using another NON-WYNDHAM property to get VIP standing. No points - just TRUE SMOKE and MIRRORS with a 5 year HOOK by sales for temporary VIP standing.

PIC has always been about taking an ownership NOT in the Wyndham Resorts and using the deposited (if you decide to deposit each year) week into Wyndham (counts towards RCI deposits as a Wyndham deposit???) ... BUT the owner GOT Wyndham CWP points to use inside the Wyndham Resorts system.

Now, PIC PLUS has NO POINTS - just a 5 year VIP status. Cuts out a lot of verification each year that the MFs have been paid and balancing deposits between your little old HOA and BIG CORPORATE WYNDHAM....

FLASH with no backroom labor; time limit of existence; 5 years for Sales to sell you MORE points and MORE EXPENSIVE points as you got so used to VIP bennies.

So in other words, spend all that cash, which is ALREADY outrageously high, to get the "privilege" of TEMPORARY VIP status, which will expire after 5 years under PIC Express. If one is going to throw money away, at least one should be getting a standard PIC. There's no guarantee that will work forever, since Wyndham can change the rules in the future, but at least you can bet on the come that it will exceed 5 years.

As for Linda's description of VIP Silver, it is pretty accurate. I'm glad to have its basic perks now, but I would never pay retail rates (or even PIC) to get them if I had to do it over again. I find that Wyndham often offers discounted rates, which sometimes meet or exceed my Silver 25%, to the masses. So it really comes down to unlimited housekeeping and 4 extra Guest Certs per year (if you even use them all) as the only real benefits over regular membership. No way is that worth $60k (or even $15k for that matter). Consider that if you paid as little as $5k for this set of benefits, it would take 7-10 years to just break even.

I noticed that as well. I wondered if I interpreted it correctly, but I come to the same conclusion as you.

In other words, the bottom line sounds like this: 1) give up the use of your current non-Wyndham timeshare week(s)/points, 2) pay an extra annual fee (currently about $.56/1000 Wyndham points) on TOP of the astronomical "buy-in" price, 3) get temp VIP status, AND 4) get no practical use (i.e., vacation time) for your effort and $$.

Actually, it is WORST as the highlighted and bold elements are NOT THERE. Original PIC you gave up the PIC'ed Week and you got points and paid the CWP fee --- PIC PLUS, just has YOU pre-paying thousands of YOUR DOLLARS for a 5 years of some form of VIP level. I bet, they will NEVER DO ANOTHER confirmation that you still own the week you PIC'ed PLUS or that the MFs are even paid. Dang, they may NOT even confirm you even own it the first time.....

Pick Plus and Pick Express appear to be different criters.
