Need a little help.... If you buy odd Biennial wyndhams points which starts Jan 2015 can I book reservations for the 2016 year or do I have to use them within the 2015 odd year I get them?

In other words if I buy 200,000 odd biennial and 200,000 even biennial it would be like getting a 200,00 annual deed right. Thanks

You can either use the points in 2015 or borrow them for use in 2014... unless you put them in the credit pool before the start of the use year (fee required). Then you have 3 years from the date you put them in the credit pool.

Having 200k odd and 200k even is the same as having 200k annual except you pay the $299 transfer fee twice (when buying and if you ever want to sell)

to answer your question clearly, you must travel in the odd year the points are distributed. UNLESS you want to pay extra to borrow or bank them into the even year ahead (Bank) or behind (borrow) to use in the even year.

Also, you can make a trading deposit in the odd year which can be used for an exchange in the next two years.

I get that there's a $39 charge to put your points into the credit pool, but what's the charge to "borrow" points from your next use year?

Something else to consider if you only own a biennial contract is the reservation transactions.

One free transaction is allowed for every 77,000 points owned in the use year.

Therefore if your points were in 2015, I assume you wouldn't have any free transactions in 2014, so if you wanted to make a reservation now for 2015 then it appears that you would have to pay the $30 fee online or $59 by telephone.

We own two biennial contracts as well as two annual contracts, so we have different point allotments depending on if it's an odd or even year, but the RTs are the same each year. It's based on an average, just like our MFs are - we pay the same every year. Which makes sense - if you're making reservations 10 or 13 months out, you probably won't be using your RT in the same calendar year that the points are allotted.

Basically what you are saying is it's based on contract, not point allocation.

The deed might read 77,000/550,000,000 allocated 154,000 every odd year.

That would give you 1 RT each year, not 2 one year and 0 the other year.

I would then assume that if you had only had one smaller contract, you wouldn't get any RT's because 77,000 is the increment used. Also, if you had multiple contracts added up to something over 154,000 but less than 308,000, you would still only get 1 RT each year.
