How best to sell points/weeks?

Hi all,

I've heard nothing but horror stories about getting out of timeshares, including Wyndham/RCI which is what I have (points convertible to weeks, or vis-a-versa).

Many of these "brokers" take the fees and run, never to be heard from, or simply tell you stories about being stuck in bureaucracy.

I've even heard of many, many ads for $1 sales just-take-over-the-admin-fees-please going with no buyers.

So... Any hints on how to legitimately transfer ownership of my 108,000 points biannually, to someone willing to pay for it?

Thanks,
David.

It is unlikely a small biannual points package can be "sold". More likely that you will need to cover the closing costs to find someone to transfer it to. You can use the bargain basement to offer it for free.

I have 156000 plus points annually which can be converted into 1 or 2 bedrooms depending on the resort, place and time of year, anywhere in the world, through Wyndham and or RCI. Most of the time I have been able to get 2 BR for 6 every time I traveled in all seasons. I have been to Mexico, Caribbeans, Hawaii, Africa, Asia, Australia and of course US. You stay in luxury with all amenities and saves a lot of money on food. Very much worth it. RCI membership is free. Wyndham sells this for $27K. I want to sell mine for a quarter of that price. However, don't know how. I have been scammed by a few companies who promised to sell my timeshare and then took the fees and ran. Now I am scepticle of anyone that asks for upfront fees. So can someone kindly advise me how to find a legitimate company that would sell my timeshare without upfront fees? If you know anyone and their contact info please let me know. I really would appreciate. Thank you.

I have 156000 plus points annually ...... Thank you.

It is worth nothing on the resale market ... like ZERO DOLLARS. Check eBay. Check the Bargain Basement Deals here on TUG.

Wyndham charges a transfer fee of $299 ... which MOST/MANY sellers paid along with $125-175 closing closes to transfer the ownership to the new owner.

You can either continue to use it or offer it up for "FREE" ... but to pay "fees" to someone who promises "the world of $$$" is giving them your money without any benefit to you.

As a reference for you, here is what I paid for 2 contracts like yours in 2014:

Contract #1: 154K points, Wyndham
Paid: $1
Closing Costs (Timeshare Transfer) Paid By Me: $300
Wyndham Transfer Fee Paid by Seller: $299
Maintainence Fees Paid for all of 2014 by Seller

Contract #2: 154K points, Wyndham
Paid: $100
Closing Costs (Timeshare Transfer) Paid By Me: $300
Wyndham Transfer Fee Paid by Seller: $299
Maintainence Fees Paid for by the Seller until the contract transferred, then I began paying them

One other thing to consider is what your maintainence fees are. Higher fees make it more difficult to sell or give away. The contract I paid $100 for had really low fees. The other I paid $1 for had average fees.
