Why is it so hard for [Morritt's Tortuga club] resort to confirm a rental?

I have noticed as a renter that we are hard pressed to ever get a confirmation from the resort we are renting from.

The service we rented from said the thrusday before our rental we will be confirmed.

This a well referred service from people on this site.

2 years ago same thing, you just can not call the resort and say hey do we have a reservation on these dates? And they can not answer it.

Just makes me wonder as a renter some day I am going to show up and the front desk is going to say I do not have a reservation.

Do they do this to renters only? As a owner is better than this?

The major resort systems have central reservation offices that handle all the reservations - the resort front desks don't get involved.

Usually, when it gets close to the check-in date, the central computer downloads the reservations to the resort front desks. Until that happens, the resort front desk doesn't have access to reservations that are still mos. out.

(But 7 days is awfully last minute - I think there is something else going on here.)

This is also true of exchanges.

If you tell us the name of the resort, we can be a lot more specific.

I cannot think of any rental service that is well referred on TUG. If you are referring to redweek, it's not a rental service. It's just a site where people list rentals and sales. They do have full service options and if that was utilized then that just means they have a middle person handling the communication.

Ive rented dozens of resorts over the years, ive yet to have been unable to get a confirmation that my name was on the check in prior to arrival?

what resort is this?

Morritt's Tortuga club.

I will bring up the other thread where folks on here said they are a good rental firm.

Here is the text when I asked them how to confirm at the resort:

You can contact the resort directly, their phone number is on the confirmation. However, your reservation won't be in their system until the Thursday prior to check-in. If you call them now they will be able to explain that procedure to you and confirm that they do not receive the guest names for each weekend until the Thursday prior. All of our paperwork mentions this as well.

A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas
All I can say is other country other rules. My Jamaican timeshare use to allow me to put a guest name and within 48 hours it would be in the main Sandals reservation system. Now they don't add it to the Sandals system until about a week prior to the stay. I just refer my guest to the timeshare division to speak directly with agents that enter the info on their end.

L & M Solutions handles Morritt's reservations. I own there and can call and get confirmation of my week immediately. As long as my maintenance fee is paid I get an immediate copy of my reservation by email. If I am renting a week, I receive the reservation in my renter's name just as quickly and forward it on to them. You can call L & M at 800-447-0309. As long as L & M has your reservation in their system, you are good to go. It is not difficult to rent at Morritt's from individual owners.

I also own there and the above information is correct.

The person you are renting from should get the confirmation with your name and you can confirm immediately with L and M that you have it by providing the Resie number.
The resort gets the info the Wednesday/Thursday before checkin so calling them directly before then is not much help.
