I just got solicited by Gold Crown Property Mangement to help rent/sell my timeshare. They claim that they are not a listing agency and have a better model for selling timeshares. They also boast a 75% money back guarantee on the upfront marketing fee of $363. Does anyone have any experience with them. Thanks.

Welcome to TUG! :hi:

Here on TUG we do not recommend companies that charge a large upfront fee - once they have your money, what's their motivation to actually do anything to sell your resort? NONE! They've got your money so why do they care if you sell your timeshare or not?

This is a really tough time to sell a timeshare and if you are still making payments, it will be nearly impossible to sell it for enough to break even. The timeshare resale market has hit bottom and people are dumping their TS’s on ebay for $1 just to get rid of them. The top dogs like Starwood, Hilton, Marriott, and Hyatt are selling for 50% or less of retail, the mid-level resorts for 10-20% of retail, and the bottom resorts aren’t selling at all.

If you have to sell your TS, here are some links that might be helpful, but if you can hold on until the economy improves, or if we can help you learn how to get more out of your TS, you might be better off.

In addition to the free TUG Marketplace (linked in the red bar at the top of the page) I personally use these cheap or free websites to post my Ads:

www.craigslist.org (free)

www.redweek.com
* Membership $14.99 for 12 Months
* Timeshare Rental Postings - $19.99/ea for 6 Months - $49.99/ea for 12 Months

www.myresortnetwork.com
$19.95 posting fee ($24.95 for a float week ad)

BTW - we have a no-advertising rule on TUG, so you will not be able to post the specific details of your ownership here. If someone asks, you can click on their blue user name and send them a private message, if you want to.

Good luck!

I was contacted by this "company" a week or so ago. The gentleman told me the same thing. They are not a listing company and have a "better way" of getting rid of timeshares. Upfront fee of $399.00 is supposed to be for Legal fees to verify the Deed. He also mentioned the 75% refund.

I proceeded to tell him how I thought every one of these companies that solicit me are crooked filled with empty promises and lies. He gave me his website at the end of the call and told me "not every company is bad".

YEAH RIGHT!

Here's the website for those who wish to view. www.goldcrownservice.com

New name, same scam

The name alone screams scam. These types of operations love to grab names timeshare owners may have heard to try to get perceived credibility. In fact they are most likely in the all too familiar mold of the upfront scams - take $300-$500 or more in upfront fees as a listing or management or other important sounding fee, give a worthless but oh-so-impressive sounding warranty, post your property on a web site no one is likely to see and even if they did has nothing to make any week stand out and thats it. Your money is gone, the guarantee means nothing and you still own the timeshare. The only happy one is the scam group who got a "commission" for 10 minutes or less of work and the cost of cold calls.

Stay away from any so called reseller that wants an up front fee of any name over $50-$75. They will take your money and do little to nothing to actually sell your ownership.
