I have found the dates I need for bonnet creek as a rental. Now, I have only rented previous timeshare rentals via ebay, this would be via redweek. How do you assure yourself that you will get the unit? At least with Ebay, when payment is made through PAYPAL you can file a claim.

Thanks:)

You can still pay an individual through PayPal. Ask if they have a PayPal account.

Also, ask for the person's phone number so you can talk to a real live person; you can generally get a sense of the person in a conversation. Ask if s/he has rented before, and for the number of email of a previous renter. Call Bonnet Creek to ensure that that person owns the right to rent that particular week and that the account is in good standing.

I don't know about Bonnet Creek, but with the timeshares we rent, we send an occupancy letter to the renter with a copy to management, and within a week or so management sends back a rental confirmation to us and the renter.

The seller that I am in communicating with, actually rents Wyndham VIP members their points for them. So I contacted them in regards to a listing, and they modified a 7 day rental into a 6 night reservation. But, I thought currently reservations could only be made for 3,4,7 night stays. They do have a paypal account, but can I still file a claim if I have an issue with paypal?
Thanks

Here you go - How to confirm that a rental is Legit

For future reference, this article is at the top of the BSR Board.

If you make the payment with Paypal, and a credit card, you can file a complaint with both, if needed.

In prime season, more than 90 days in advance, this is correct. The six night reservation is probably structured as two, back-to-back, three night stays. Bonnet is very good about keeping people in the same unit when this happens, though---this is one place where their size is an advantage.

In these sorts of situations, nothing beats your gut feeling. In this case, I'm guessing that the person/company also has done business with several Wyndham owners over at forums.atozed.com; you might ask over there for anyone with personal experience.

I think I know who that vendor is. Why don't you post the name of the company you are dealing with and I can tell you if it's the company I know and would recommend.

Brian, thanks so much! I had not thought of the two reservations as "back-to-back". That makes sense.
