I am looking at purchasing into CWA, and I thought I read somewhere that Wyndham will take your other Deeded weeks (that are not affiliated with them), and give you Wyndham points. How does that work and how many points will they give you?

I own at Vacation Village at Parkway (week 18), and Silverleaf Fox River Resort (weeks 14 & 52).

Thanks!

They will do that to temporarily give you 5 years worth of Wyndham points use for them; it's called PIC. It will require a points purchase directly from Wyndham that will cost you several thousand dollars though.

You are referring to the PIC program and they will take deeded RCI weeks (up to 2 per account) and the points you receive will depend upon the size of the unit you are exchanging into the program, with the most points being for a 3BR or larger unit at 254K points, a total of 508K. The catch is two-fold:

1. You have to make a minimum developer purchase of approximately 105K points at a cost of around $20K to make it happen

2. The PIC program as I now understand it is a 5-year program and the weeks, points, and VIP status that go with them are limited to this timeframe.

So if I buy resale, I cannot do that?

The non-Wyndham weeks can be acquired in any manner you wish; to PIC the weeks will require a developer purchase from Wyndham.

Better to buy (and cheaper to convert) is Wyndham Fixed Weeks to Wyndham points. You can do it with a smaller Wyndham point purchase ... get them to do 2 weeks. Just remember, 2 weeks by holding out til THEY want to go home.... great game. Easy to win.

Why do some people think that PIC as part of a new purcase is only for 5 years?

Has anyone here PIC'd a week as part of a new purchase, and only had the week remain eligible in PIC for five years?

I don't mean when you PIC a week without a new purchase, and instead pay the PIC fee to get your week enrolled.

There were some reports that there is/was a temporary-term PIC Lite (?) program. Whether this completely replaced the normal PIC or not is up for debate and seems to be based on one's experience. It seems both types of PICs may currently exist. Anyone in the know should push for a permanent PIC during negotiations.
