I am accustomed to making ARP reservations over the phone at our home resort, and making online reservations at other places, but now I need to make a more complicated reservation and I need some guidance on the most efficient method to do so. We are planning to take a trip in June of 2016, but don't have quite enough points left. Our Use Year starts on July 1, btw. So, my plan is to call first thing in the morning on the first day of the reservation window and have them credit pool just enough of our points from the next use year to be able to make the reservation. We are hoping to reserve a 1 bedroom, but could deal with a studio in a pinch. I guess my question is about the most efficient way to get that done in the phone conversation, since I am concerned about the place "selling out" while I'm still on the phone! Is this the right order to use?

1. Ask the VC if there are enough pooled points available in the use year to cover the reservation.
2. If yes, then ask the VC to pool the required number of points.
3. Ask the VC to make the reservation.

Can they "hold" a unit while we sort out the pooling thing or does that have to be complete first? Would I be better off having them reserve a Studio right away, which we could do without pooling anything? At least that way we would get something!

I guess I should also say that we already have airline tickets booked (maybe not the best idea, but they were ridiculously cheap!), so there is a lot riding on getting this right!

I really didn't think was going to be a big deal, because when I booked the airline tickets it looked like there was lots of availability. Since then it seems to have really tightened up.

Thanks for any help!

Josh

It sounds like you're trying to make a difficult reservation. If it were me, I would pool the points at least the day before and then make the reservation right when online booking opens since it's earlier.

Also, unless you're saving points for ARP why not just pool all of your 2016 points?

I took your suggestion and pooled my points ahead of time to save time on the crucial morning. I wasn't sure until now that we weren't going to need them for ARP, so I was hesitant to do that until now. Thanks for the suggestion! I hope this works!

I wouldnt be concerned whether you need them all or not. You will need them sooner of later, remember that they are good for 3 years.
