We will be spending 15 days in Spain in September. I would love some hotel recommendations in Barcelona and Madrid. Preferably Marriott's or their partner hotels.

There are AC hotels all over both places (and many more) They are Marriott partners. In Barcelona we've stayed at AC Sants. It worked out well for us.

We're going to Lisbon/Madrid/Playa Andaluza in August. Staying at the AC Santo Mauro in Madrid, so glad to hear the recommendation. On the way back, we stay one more night in Madrid before flying home, and I booked a room at the AC Hotel Carlton Madrid. . .it looked like it was closer to the airport. Any feedback on that hotel?

You can't beat the location of the Renaissance in Barcelona. A lot of things to see/do within walking distance (Paseo de Gracia, Las Ramblas, Plaza Catalunya)

I agree. We just spent 5 nights there using MR points. Our upgraded room was very comfortable, the wifi was reliable, and as Platinum members we got a pretty good free breakfast. My only complaint is that there was no executive lounge. If you can't wait until the dinner hour in Barcelona (9 pm) you can find excellent tapas in several nearby restaurants. After two glasses of wine and a whole bunch of tapas, who needs dinner?

We stayed here in late May, 2012 after a travel pkg at the Rome Grand Flora, and before flying out to Mallorca for a week at Son Antem, so were only there for one night. They sent up a bottle of wine and a lovely cheese and fruit plate when we arrived that evening, and the excellent breakfast buffet was more interesting (except for the view) than the Grand Flora's.

They gave us late check out, as we had an afternoon flight and had already explored Barcelona earlier in the trip. Also, after walking many miles every day in Rome, the legs were begging for a lazy day. So we did not experience sightseeing from that location, but it did look fairly close to Plaza Catalunya. We would stay there again...think it may have gone up a category this year though.

Have a wonderful trip Ilene!
