Isn't Bay Lake home to alligators?

From a USA today article :

Take a wild ride on Bay Lake

Splash Mountain offers big thrills, but you could also make quite a splash at Sammy Duvall's Watersports Centre. Located at the marina at Disney's Contemporary Resort, options include parasailing, wake boarding, water skiing, tubing (guests careen across the lake in a giant raft that is pulled by a motorboat), and you-drive-'em mini speedboats.

There has been waterskiing on Bay Lake for many, many years. Gators tend to hang around in the shallows because that's where their prey may be found, as well as easy access to the shoreline for sunning themselves.

Still, I'm not a fan. We go sailing on Bay Lake and it's lovely, but we stay inside the boat. Have never tried the waterskiing there because we don't trust the bacterial count, to dunk our heads underwater. The alligators just add another reason to stay out of the lake, for us.

Every fresh water lake or pond in Florida can have alligators. They are everywhere. My tip to golfers is that if you hit a ball into the rough near a body of water - do not search for it - just kiss it goodbye and take a drop.

Also realize that there are no barriers between Bay Lake and the 7 Seas Lagoon. We all know about the 2-year-old snatched by an alligator in front of the Grand Floridian, which is on the 7 Seas Lagoon. The alligators roam freely around this and other waterways.

Gators aside, aren't people afraid of amoeba? We are Floridians...no way would we waterski in fresh water.
