My parents (in their 80's) are willing to GIVE AWAY their 10,000 Diamond Resorts points as my father is no longer able to travel. Let me be upfront, I am a Starwood owner/user & DO NOT understand the DRI system, but I had my mom call DRI a couple times so I could get some answers and this is what they told her.

1) 10,000 annual points
2) 2014 MF is $1,834.40 & will be due Jan 1, 2014
3) Resale purchaser only has access to US Collection (I don't know what units those are)
4) DRI charges a $250 (transfer?) fee
5) They do not have a deeded resort, it is just the points to use within the US Collection

Sorry, but I have no idea what 10,000 pts gets in DRI within the US. I'll try and answer any questions as best I can. If you are interested, please let me know.

Resorts Owned
HVC: The Point at Poipu, 3 deeded weeks, 1 of which is in The Club.
For potential buyers, 10,000 is enough to get a 2 bedroom for a week or more at just about all of Diamonds resorts. I'm not such which of their resorts are in the US Collection.

Are the DRI Hawaii resorts included? Last I checked Hawaii was a US state.

The DRI Hawaii resorts are not in the US Collection. They are in the DRI Hawaii Collection. This goes back to the Sunterra days, when Sunterra kept their Hawaii properties separate from the mainland Club Sunterra trust.

Just wanted to give an update. We did not get any takers for this unit. After many phone calls to D.R., my mom was able to get someone who was able to tell her what to do. Back in Dec '13, they told her not to pay her MF and write a letter explaining their situation, and they would hear back from D.R. in a couple months, well almost a year later (and many more phone calls), D.R. took back their ownership "as an internal matter" and they are no longer responsible for their ownership or MF's. The real good news is that since it was ownership in the club, and an internal matter, there is no foreclosure or credit ding on their credit report.....but at 80+, I don't think they care too much about that.

I am so happy for your parents and you. Now you can sleep peaceful at night.
