Hi All,

We have reserved our 2014 week at Barony for June 29th thru July 6th. Something has come up and we will not be going next summer. So my question:

Would it be better to rent out our reserved week (June 29th thru July 6th 2014) at Barony or turn it in for 4200 points and rent the points?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and time.

I am not sure that you can undo a reservation and "elect" points. I may be misunderstanding terminology.

Sure you can, as long as you are more than 60 days out from checkin, you can cancel the reservation and then elect DC points. Within 60 days, you can't cancel a weeks reservation.

When we bought our marriott points, our broker said that if she wants to rent out, she will usually reserve a week and then put it on redweek to rent. On the other hand, 4500 points is a lot, and would probably fetch a decent fee.

gotta decide by Sept 30, 2013

To add to Dioxide's response.. you will have to cancel and elect points by the September deadline. Otherwise, it will be too late to elect DC points for 2014 and you will have to rent it or exchange it to II.

Points rent for $0.50 - $0.60 per point...

One thing to remember is that non-Marriott owners whom I think would be many of the renters would be looking ar Redweek or Myresortnetwork.com.
