What is the preferred Wyndham Pompano Beach resorts?

I am guessing Palm Aire is the nicest resort but not being on a beach is a big drawback.

This is for Christmas/New Years. A 2 bedroom or larger is the goal.

Better Get It Now!

If someone can ARP into any of these, do it now. Otherwise, the ten month window opens in the next week or so.

In order of preference (mine anyway!):

Royal Vista, Santa Barbara, Sea Gardens, Palm Aire. If golf is a primary consideration, bump Palm Aire up a slot or two. But, even at Royal Vista, you can play golf at Palm Aire.

Royal Vista is beach side. Santa Barbara is across the street from Royal Vista and three buildings south. Sea Gardens has some oceanside units but most of the resort is on the west side of A1A.

2 bdr is the MAX size.

Royal Vista is either 2/2 or 1/1. NO HOT TUB at resort.

SB is 40% studio, 40% 1bdr and 20% 2/2. Has a hot tub.

SG is 5 different HOAs ... best size & layout 2/2 is Key West but is 6 person MAX. then Ocean Palms 2/2. 2 hot tubs. I would NOT take any 2bdr 2.5 bath units - those are Waterfall 2/2 lockouts - strange layouts; 4 story building with parking in the service alley.

No presidential units at beach resorts.

Go for Royal Vista.
Palm Aire is not even near the beach but it is close to I-95.

Linda, are you sure about 20% 2 bedroom?

I thought that the 09 and 10 units are 2 bedroom, but there was a listing on ebay showing 603 as a 2 bedroom. I prefer 1 bedroom and I always worry that I might get a lower floor 01 or 03 with the parking garage view.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wyndham-San...314?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item566fbe0412

09 units are 1bdr - own 2 of them. The 03 unit is the only SOUTH facing 2/2 and the 10 unit is the corner unit looking towards RV.

I own a 03 unit and had friends who own back to back winter weeks in a 10 unit.

Yes, I am sure .... that building was built as a motel. Mirror floors -all original units were the size of a STUDIO, the 1bdr is 2 units (with 2 entrance doors) and the 2 bdr is bastardized 2 room units....

PS the second bedroom at SB has only a double bed --- it sleeps 8 because of the 2nd sofa bed (one in the LR and the other inside the MBR). AND there is almost NO FLOOR space and a fixed glass panel as the ONLY "window".

Thanks Linda, I don't know why I thought that the 09 was 2 bedroom. The 2 bedrooms might be small, but the 1 bedroom units make up for it by being too large at 1200 sq ft.
My problem is the studios, they should have a king bed and a small dining table instead of the counter.

There is plenty of beach parking at the Santa Barbara, a lot and a garage that is mostly empty in the winter. I have seen many people walking from the Royal Vista to SB parking lot. There is also beach access across the street from the SB and south about 100 feet to a sidewalk between buildings.

Many of the staff at Royal Vista park in the SB garage --- like the salesmen staff from the sales department (except for the MANAGERS). I don't believe that empty lot is rented by Wyndham anymore ...

That beach access is between the 2 condo buildings - no signage but it is a sidewalk.

Before Santa Barbara was converted into timeshare units by Vacation Break (which also planned Royal Vista & owned Sea Gardens), it was a hotel/motel operations. The Captain's Lounge was a full service restrauant with patio setting outside - with that low wall separating it from the pool area. There is still a commercial kitchen (dated in equipment) behind the elevators and between the table area in the Captain's Lounge and the front of the resort.

Wherever you stay, go to Santa Barbara and take some photos under one of Florida's most magnificent Banyan trees. Beach side of street--it is HUGE. Eye level with the top is on the 10th floor and it's canopy covers the whole street.

We stayed at Palm Aire over New Years a few Years ago. We had a 2 bedroom unit very spacious. Played golf, went to the Casino, and also allowed beach access at sister timeshares on the beach. There are some good resturants in the Casino, best part is the Casino is smoke free. I wrote a review on the review pages. We would go back again. I cannot comment on the other timeshares in Pompano Beach because I have not stayed there.

I have sat on the bench (while waiting for the south bound RT 11 bus) on the Santa Barbara side of the road many times and just have marvel at that tree. The lower branches and tree limbs are "pruned" by the trucks & buses ... but it is just beautiful and pretty.
