An RCI points account will allow the user to get some fabulous places as last minute calls: somewhere in the 9000-15,000 point range. This is how an owner can turn 49,000 points into multiple vacation weeks. Not to mention that these points can be used for partial weeks, or multiple weeks.

If you have an RCI points account, you can take a look to see what is available on short notice, at the reduced points rate.

No informed person would disagree with your above observations --- but the OP still needs to ascertain and verify that there are RCI Points attached to this ownership at all in the first place and that those points would remain attached and transfer to new "grantee" upon resale.

As is so often the case on Planet Timeshare, the devil is in the details.

theo - Sandy is responding to the poster who claimed that you can only get inferior properties with RCI points - not to the OP.

Thanks. My advice to the OP still stands, particularly in view of the absence of any estoppel documentation, a completely unknown (and less than cooperative) eBay seller and an apparent facts and information vacuum regarding the current (and / or future) status of the (...maybe) RCI Points.

Agreed - we hijacked this thread a bit.

Final, hopefully last update

Asked seller to stop the purchasing process because seller refused to provide estoppel. Seller agreed but insisted it's uncommon to ask estoppel for ebay deals since most ebay deals aim for fast transactions.

Thank you all Tuggers for your generous input. I'll definitely learn more from this forum before making another move on any other purchases. Thanks again!!!

A good re-seller would already have the estoppel in their file…

I know you are disappointed, but how would you feel if you found out your were mis-led, AFTER it was already in your name!

Everything Denise and the others have said is true.

Ebay sellers normally are flipping properties so they have the estoppel from when they agreed to take the property to flip.

My suspicion is that it is NOT a RCI points ownership and this seller knows it.

There will be another deal similar (although probably not as cheap) for this property with RCI Points membership.

If the eBay seller comes back attempting to save the sale, you can simply say that you are looking for a Grandview that's been converted to RCI Points. The only way you know that that has been accomplished is with an estoppel letter from the resort. Otherwise, thanks but no thanks. Otoh, getting an RCI Points TS for a buck is rare. Plan on spending at least several hundred$- maybe a thousand for one.

Found the seller's name in a ripoff complaint!!!

Just did a Google search instead of going to HIS website and found timeshare complaint filed against him. Now holding on he phone with eBay to make sure my info does not get released to him. According to eBay though, because a transaction is still in place, the seller has full access to my information. I requested a block on my revealing my into seller because of fraudulent report filed against him (by others), but eBay refused!!! Still on hold with eBay for a supervisor to block my info. Chances are, he probably already has my info!

I really wouldn't worry about that. Nothing you gave him is confidential. Just cancel and move on.
