New RCI / Mayan-Vidanta booking rules / June 2016

Hi All ,
I noticed the change on Friday June 17 , while on RCI

New rules - Max booking 2 units - all Mayan Properties - per calendar year ( thru RCI )
and no more than 1 unit in " high season " You can do 2 consecutive weeks in low season using a single check in date .

for balance of 2016 high season includes :
June 24 - Aug 7
Nov 18-20
Dec 16- Jan1

In 2017 winter/ snowbird season
Jan - April 16

dates for the balance of 2017 and 2018 are shown

The good news - the 1 in 3 rule is gone ( for now )

and Mayan owners can now book extra vacations as well as exchanges
when using RCI .

For anyone who was blocked from going back to a favorite location due to the
1 in 3 rule - your problem is solved for now .

For TUG readers who like to go to these resorts a few weeks a year - you will have to use SFX , II and renting from owners .

I have not reread RCI since Friday .
At that point a couple of resort locations still had the old rules and I printed them for reference . I assume this was an IT transition issue .

That's really good news. I was very PO'd by the RCI restrictions. I assume you can deposit your registered hotel room week and exchange for a 1 or 2 bedroom as in the past?

Great news about 1 in 3 rule change.
SFX had me book under wife's name for 2017 to get around it

Not good news for me. That would definitely hinder me in the future in booking two consecutive weeks in January. The 1 in 3 didn't bother me, makes you switch it up.
Might have to start using my MP weeks and not deposit them with RCI. That's a gain for Vida, loss for RCI.

Oct 31 2016 - All Sea Gardens are back to 1 in 3 on RCI - No changes on other Vidanta

I am updating-Oct 2016- SG is now 1 in 3 on RCI

I was on RCI looking - and noticed this change for ( Vidanta ) Sea Garden- all locations. I am not sure when the change was made . (or why ? )

All other Vidanta brands remain as per June 2016 ( the 2 per year all locations / 1 high season )

Nuevo Valarta - RCI 6866 & 6867
Mazatlan - RCI 1009 & 6636
Acapulco - RCI 6633 & 4125

It also says " extra fees for Valet Parking , Internet, Gym and Spa "
( no dollar amount listed )

I assume this change to 1 in 3 is by resort city location - that is how it reads.

This may be useful to any TUG members who have used their "one high season Vidanta" for 2017 if this counts as a different rule for exchanges into Sea Garden's .

Nuevo 6866 & 6867 has one bedroom suites for 12 TPU's starting in March 2017
,< only has hotel rooms for Jan & Feb >

Mazatlan has one bedroom suites , Jan - April 2017 for 14 TPU's

Acapulco - currently has nothing listed beyond Dec 2016 .( not sure why )

there are also units under extra vacations

That is strange since RCI has GM and MP availability in Acapulco through 2017 and in one well into 2018.

Maybe Vidanta will do in Acapulco what they have done in NV, put SG guests in GM and keep SG closed.

Or, Vidanta could be doing what they did in the marina area of PV. They permanently closed the SG across the street from the MP sometime before the summer of 2002 when we first stayed at the MP in the PV marina area.

Sorry for grammar nazi, but it's an important distinction: Two concurrent in low season if you use the same check in day of week, not date. Like Friday June 9 and Friday, June 16.

If you have II, the rules are different. It would be worth checking. I understand that you can book numerous units each year, including Getaways and up to 5 for the same week.
