Some resorts I am interested in have a 1 in 4 rule. But I can book 3 or more weeks together for the same $169 exchange fee. Is it allowed if in fact it does work? Or will all but one week be cancelled or denied check in at the resort?
Are you talking consecutive on concurrent? RCI does let you book up to 3 consecutive weeks with a single exchange fee. You can't break it down to put GC's on only a part. You can not later cancel part of the reservation.
My guess is you are looking at a NY Hilton. I have never tried but I believe that would be considered a single stay and would not be cancelled. I would call RCI within 24 hr of making the reservation to confirm and then even follow up by sending an email to customer service indicating what you did and who you spoke to verifying that it was ok.
I think the "one exchange fee for a multi-week stay" is only with RCI Points, and I'm pretty sure it's only RCI Weeks that has the 1 in 4 rules. I could be wrong, though.
There are a few that carry the 1 in x over to points like Tradewinds and Festiva sailing clubs. There may be a few more. I wouldn't be surprised if MC and Hilton in NY didn't have some limits but I think if the system lets you book 3 weeks and you double check with an agent, you should be fine. If it is one of the Orlando or Vegas weeks, I might not even bother checking.
Three. There would be an exchange fee for each concurrent week. Depending on the resort, you could book multiple units even with a 1 in 4 but it will not get you out of an exchange fee for each unit.

The 1 in 4 rule is resort specific or resort group and not RCI. I have both weeks and points and wanted to use points a year or two after my weeks stay, Called RCI and was told I am blocked from going on either account for 4 years.
