I have traded for back-to-back weeks in Scottsdale from 1/24/16 - 2/7/16 and I'm trying to decide whether I should be happy with what I have, since this is prime time, or whether I should feel badly because I'm not booked into one of the highest rated resorts.

Maybe I should have waited for larger/nicer units. I have e-trade on the first week, but not the second. In theory, I can switch the first reservation, even on short notice, if something else becomes available. In reality, I'm now relegated to manual searches while people with ongoing searches for the next 13 months will get confirmations for weeks I will never see. Sigh. I drive myself crazy over the "bird-in-the-hand" vs the "next trade might be better." Am I the only one who obsesses over their trades this way? Should I simply be content that I have two satisfactory exchanges this far in advance?

This has been read 246 times but no one has an opinion whether it's a decent trade. :ponder: Oh well. Ultimately it's up to me to decide, and I have read tons of reviews and looked at photos, so I guess now I have 13 months to think about it!

Do you have a 2 bedroom unit? If so you should be happy with your exchange. We love Camelback but would not take anything smaller than a 2 bedroom. Take a look at their website and it will give you a better idea of the resort.

We're booked in the Monterey unit which as you know is called a studio but has 700+ SF and a loft bedroom as well as an alcove bedroom. Since it has essentially a full kitchen and a real bedroom we figured it's more of a one bedroom unit with an odd floor plan than a studio. Still, compared to the Westin where we stayed last time in January, it's obviously not as upscale. I do like the Camelback's location near Old Town and the trolley routes.

There's only the two of us so the unit size is not a problem. I'm mostly debating with myself whether I'm getting a fair value for my one bed room trade. Naturally I like to trade up when possible or at least get an equal trade. I realize in the higher demand season it's often necessary to be a little less picky about the choice of resort.
