I have a 2BR lock off unit at Harborside. Can I split the unit and use one part and have the other part converted to star options.Thank you

Yes. Just keep in mind there is no conversion needed.

You would book the one side only when you make the reservation. If prior to 8 months then for accounting this would deduct so but be a home res. You can still make a other side res prior to 8 month or at 8 month use the points to reserve elsewhere in the system.

Also you could pay to roll the points to the following two use years.

I already have a reservation for July 2016.I will not need the whole unit so I wanted to lock off and stay in one side and convert the other side to star options before 60 days to use later.Thank you

I believe you would have to cancel the entire reservation and rebook what you wanted. I would go through a phone rep and see if they can do it rather than trying it yourself.

You don't actually "convert it." If you call and cancel one side, you get that side back, to use as you see fit, whether that is a home resort reservation, or a Staroption reservation. If you want to roll the Staroptions over to 2017, you have to do that by the end of June.

You can't cancel one side anymore.

You certainly can, except in a few instances. I do it all the time.
Ok do tell how. I've only managed it once And the required second line escalation and a death in the group.

I just ask. If the first Rep. says no, hang up and call back, or escalate it to Owner Resolution Services.

Do you mean you cancel (over the phone) a 2BRLO resie and get a new one for one of the 2 1 BR and by doing this you keep the same confirmation number.

I didn't know you could call to cancel one side and keep the other without a new confirmation number...:ponder:

I have accomplished the end result mentioned here but I always have to cancel and rebook...

Starwood's reservations system is clunky - to make changes in your reservation they have to cancel and re-book. Most of the time, the unit you keep - keeps the same reservation number. For instance, lets say you have a 2 bdm. reserved, and you cancel one side - most of the time the one bedroom that you keep will have the same reservation number as the original reservation, but not all the time. Depends on how much Starwood messes it up. ;)

I guess they always mess up with me. I have always gotten a new number.
