I was wondering about this on my most recent plane trip. I didn't think I had gained THAT much weight.

I must be in the minority here, but I can't see how we can legitimately complain. The majority of the population has voted with their dollars saying they'll give up space/services for the lowest airfare possible, and this is the unintended consequence. For the rest, there's economy plus.

I agree with Crispee. We have brought this on ourselves. We demand the lowest cost transport between points 'A' and 'B', and do whatever we can to get those lowest prices. Don't check bags, carry on our meals, watch the specials, spend as much as possible on airline award credit cards.

Airline is simply a necessary evil of being able to travel. For those of us who haven't hit lotteries, or are trust fund babies, live with it, and rejoice when that middle seat remains unoccupied.

The flights we have been on in the last couple years it's pretty rare to see an empty seat...

We just had an empty seat on our return flight from Kauai. Lihue to Denver,
Felt like first class.:D I think it had to do with the hurricane the week before.
A lot of people got off the island early.
