Outrigger Question

Hi all,

We're in Hawaii this week and did our owner update for $100 gift card. Easy, no pressure to buy. Really nice.

One question though - I know that you are only eligible for Outrigger resorts if you own specific resorts in Hawaii, but I had thought those benefits came even through resale purchases. Our sales associate said it was developer purchases only.

Was I mistaken, or was he lying?

Thanks,

Jeff

I own a resale contract at Bali Hai and have access to the Outrigger resorts in the online system.

Ditto for me too! I own resale and have access to Outrigger resorts. But to be honest I've never used them because of the HIGH point cost and I've done better with trading to Maui lately. Not only that but they have low availability.

Jeff,

I believe what the sales person meant to refer to was Trading Places International (TPI) which is as exchange company that Wyndham prepays for 3 years when you buy a Hawaiian property from them directly. However, it appears you can join TPI if you have an eligible exchange property anyway, and paying the TPI membership would be far more cost effective than paying the extra for developer points.

There is quite a bit of detail on Outrigger and TPI in this thread:

http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133367

The Outrigger benefit applies to points deeded at Hawaii, regardless of how acquired. Only the points deeded in Hawaii can be used at Outrigger resorts, so if for example you have 300K points in Hawaii and 500K elsewhere, you could only make a reservation in ORC for 300K. I haven't done this myself, so I'm only going from the guidance provided in the referenced thread.
