My wife and I each have our own SPG accounts. We want to merge her account into mine but are told we need to have the same last name (my wife has kept her maiden name). It appears that even if she changes the last name on her account that the name on the merged account will remain my full name and that she won't be able to get a member card reflecting her name. Is this correct? Is there any way to accomplish what we want to do? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Starwood, nor do any of the hotel programs, allow people to have joint accounts. Hilton used to years ago, but ended that also. All accounts are individual.

In all of these systems the account and benefits acrrue to one individual.

In some schemes, I'm not sure if Spg does, a high status primary gets to bestow lower status on a second account. For example, BA does this.

Stanwood does allow points transfers for free between accounts in the same family at the same mailing address.

my husband has his own account and they said he could transfer all his points to my account. when i log into my account it says hello to mr and mrs and our last names are not the same. mine is a hyphenated last name including his last name.

This is incorrect, Hilton still allows it. I have a joint with my wife and we share all features including Diamond Status...Hilton created our account in March after we purchased a resale VOI...

Yes, we still have a merged Hilton account, too....which, I must say, gives them a leg up on the other programs for us.

I think this is generally true. However, if you have an account as a result of a timeshare purchase from the developer you get one account for both of you.

We have this with both Hilton and SPG.
