With the merger of Starwood and Marriott it would be advantageous for us to have our Starwood/VSE ownership linked to my husbands SPG number as he will now be SPG Platinum.

I know NOTHING about the SPG program, I signed up for an account when I purchased my VSE ownership but did not bother to get one for DH as I am primary on the VSE VOIs.
But today, I applied for a SPG account for DH and then linked it to his Marriott account.

With Marriott TS, both owners have their own log in to the TS website and depending on whose name is on the Resie made, that is the Marriott Reward Number that is assigned to that reservation. At check in, you can also choose which reward number you would like to use for that particular stay.
And Marriott TS stays count towards nights per year to maintain status.

After I did the SPG sign up I went to VSE and established a profile for my husband. Then is asked if I would like to "connect your ownership account". When I attempted to do this by using DHs name and last 4 social security I got the following message.
"We are having difficulty locating this account in our system. Please verify that you have entered it correctly. If you continue to have problems, please call Owner Services"

Any reason why they can't find him? I know we both submitted our SS# when we purchased.
And will I have to make him primary on the account to get our future stays credited to his SPG account?

Thx

Not sure about having two SPG accounts associated with Vistana, but timeshare stays at Vistana resorts don't get credit for nights/stays within SPG. You will get SPG points for any spending charged to your room (i.e., onsite dining).

I wish you could get credit for the nights as this would just push me into plat status with SPG this year.

Yes. It is a nice perk of Marriott that TS stays count towards nights stayed.

I will call VSE about making DH primary and linking his SPG number to our ownership instead of mine.

Just wanted to see if others knew how VSE handles multiple owners of TS weeks.

Awhile ago, they pushed us to make two different accounts for SVN, using different emails. We use my husband's SPG account primarily. If you call they will link your SPG account to your Vistana.

Thanks. I was hoping to hear this.

Instead of trying to link the ownership based on name and SSN, could you use one of the other methods instead?

It was either name and last 4 digits SS# or a business account.

Isn't there the option to enter your contract #?

Not on the page where it asks you to link you ownership with your SPG account. That requests name and SS#.
Something isn't quite right. Will hope to resolve in the phone Monday.

Just don't select any of the boxes at the top of the page where you connect your ownership. When you don't select either of the options, you can use your Contract Number to attempt to connect.

Edit: IT WORKED! I registered my wife for a Vistana account, then went in and connected using the contract number.

There must have been a glitch the other day when I tried to link because there was NO option to add resort name and contract number only SS#.
When I went in to do it today, that option appeared and by entering one of my contract numbers DH is now linked and has his own account.

Thx.

We did this awhile ago.

I got Platinum in SPG
Wife got Gold in SPG

Then now we linked our SPG account to Marriott and we both got status match. Me = Platinum, Wife = Gold.
