I inherited this from my dad, but I really don't have the time nor the inclination to use it. The 2013 fee is already paid, and the week is available for use. I'm willing to give it away for free.

Resort Name: Melia Vacation Club at Paradisus Punta Cana (Dominican Republic)
Transfer Fees: $0, I will pay.
Unit Size: Studio
Season Owned: Gold
Maintenance Fee: $556
Current Reservations: None
Type: RTU (right to use)
Expiration Date: 2033
Restrictions: Cannot be used on Holy week, Easter week, Christmas week and New Years week

When I last went to the timeshare (2009) there was a all inclusive fee (food+drink) for $75 per person per night. I do not know if that is still the price, but I imagine the all inclusive fee still exists. According to the contract, the week is exchangeable.

The studio is described as "Consists of a room with two double beds or one king size bed, complete bathroom with sink, bathtub, shower, hair dryer, vanity mirror, as well as coffee maker, cups, tv via satellite, safety deposit box, and compat bar at the disposal of the member, with a maximum occupancy of four persons, private occupancy of two persons."

Could you send me some more information on this, I would be interested. Are you paying the xfer fees? What week is this for? Is it a deeded week, exchange-able?

I'd be interested in learning more information on this type of ownership as well.

I am in the process of purchasing a 1br unit at this resort via a reseller. I am paying $300 which includes all transfer fees (I hope, but let's see). Right to use expires 2030.

From the research I have done, these tend to me Melia Vacation Club, which is not the same as the newer Sol Melia Vacation club. The gold floats tends to be any week from 1-50. These are right to use and not deeded.

The all inclusive fees are manditory, although some places still say it is optional. I have had friends visit the resort and it is really nice, but you have to decide if the manditory all inclusive fees make it worth it as you can normally book a room on any of the travel sites for less than the all inclusive fees alone, nevermind your maintenance fees. The only reason I am interested is the larger unit size, the possibilities to upgrade and it is a good reason to force me to take vacations!

This is Melia Vacation Club. The transfer fees for this resort are 10% of the original purchase price. For this one, that's $874, which I will pay.

The contract expires in 2033. 2003 was the first use year, and it's a 30 year contract.

You are right that this is a 'right to use' week, not deeded. You may be right about the 1-50. I will email them and ask.

When I last went to the timeshare (2009) there was a all inclusive fee (food+drink) for $75 per person per night. I do not know if that is still the price, but I imagine the all inclusive fee still exists.

According to the contract, the week is exchangible,

The studio is described as "Consists of a room with two double beds or one king size bed, complete bathroom with sink, bathtub, shower, hair dryer, vanity mirror, as well as coffee maker, cups, tv via satellite, safety deposit box, and compat bar at the disposal of the member, with a maximum occupancy of four persons, private occupancy of two persons."

For those who are curious. Holy week is a week in March where pretty much all of DR is on holiday.
