Word is that Wyndham has laid off a lot of people. Not sure of numbers, but significant.

Before anyone celebrates, many of the laid off are hard working behind the scenes types.

I know wait times have been up to an hour for owner care just to check a room number, cancel a reservation etc.

Yes most are really know what they are talking about. Most of the others are just learning and it takes time to get the hang of it.

We were at Ocean Walk in late September to early October and a lot of personnel changes had taken place. Basically all, or almost all were fired and had to reapply for employment with Wyndham according to those who know us there. Not everyone was rehired. I could tell the difference during check-in, housekeeping and in building maintenance. Here what we experienced at check-in. I email this to Wyndham and the resort manager. Hopefully something will come of it:

"I'm a VIP Platinum owner deeded at Ocean Walk. While waiting to check-in on the 16th, I, along with other owners were standing in the VIP/Elite check-in line. We had to endure listening to your staff try to signup owners for the tour/briefing (sales). We parked out front taking up a parking space waiting to check-in. We stood in line for what seemed forever listening to the tour/briefing (sales pitch) signup to the owners in front of us over and over again. When it was my turn to check-in I told the person at the desk to forego the speech because I heard it a dozen times standing in line. After finally checking in I noticed vehicles lined up in the street trying to get in. She tried and I put my foot down. I don't know who's responsible for the change, but having to wait and listen to those ahead in line getting a sales pitch and trying to be talked into 'a tour' when they just want to be checked in angered a lot of owners in line. I don't know whos ideas the change was, but it wasn't a good one."

Wyndham has been changing over to the Universal Agent for a good year now. They fired the front end staff (multiple years of employment) and took the previously employed, commissioned only sales staff and put them into the Front End desk jobs ... as new employees. Sales staff were younger, eager, cute/handsome ...who are too inexperience to know, next season or a year later, they will be replaced by the NEW crop of "fresh meat" at bottom dollar pay.

Started at Royal Vista last November ...

Confirmed by a mass internal email by Franz Hanning at 8:30 this morning. No details, just a promise that the business leaders will provide more details. We don't know who or where is affected.

You should also include in the description of the 'Sales Staff' as ethically challenged (nice way as saying lying bottom feeders), sleazy and cold hearted. I'm just saying. . .
