I have traded my sedona summit with trading places and now Diamond management says it will only trade with II and RCI. I have written verification of my week for this year and verification that i paid my yearly fees. The home resort says i can trade but trading places can't seem to work it out. What is my recourse.
 
Why is Diamond even involved? Has nothing to do with them as its your week

There should be no problem. Diamond does not have to interact with TPI in any way. Basically you are giving your use time for the year to a guest. Thats all Diamond has to know. It is your time to do with as you please. I find this type of needles intrusion by developers/operators abhorrent. Another needless hassle that plagues timeshare owners and the reputation of timeshares as hard to use/own.
 
In a case like this, where the Mgmt. Co. is trying to interfere (illegally) you shouldn't tell your home resort/Diamond Mgmt. that you are going to deposit your week. Simply make a reservation for yourself, deposit it with the Exchange Co. and let them deal with your home resort/Mgmt. Co.
 
There are two situations that apply here, and it's critical to know which one applies in your case.

It's critical to know if the unit you are trying to exchange is a reservation made as a member of DRI's club, or if you are reserving as an owner. If you are reserving as an owner (i.e., if you have not joined the DRI Club), you shouldn't have any problem using an exchange company you choose. Follow the advice above.

But if this a reservation made through the Club, you will be out of luck. If it is a Club week you can only make exchanges through the Club
