Hawaiian Air FF miles
Once the required miles go up for a date, could they decrease in the future? Example: The miles required were 17,500, now are 25,000. Could it go back to 17,500? I'm a novice with FF miles. Learning as I go. TIA.

Not in my experience - they usually only "sell" so many seats in each range. During high season, I can usually only get one seat for 17,500 mi. and have to pay more mi. for the second seat.

I think the lowest now is 20,000 from West Coast to Hawaii. That's called Super Saver. I was able to book those last weekend for next summer. Now waiting for SPG to get my points to Hawaiian.

Are Hawaiian ffmiles 'equal' to American Airlines ffmile? In other words, if I have 'spent' 45,000 ffmiles per person to get lax/maui -- did I waster miles since Hawaiian is a partner of AA and charges only 20,000?

AA and Hawaiian do share AA's frequent flyer program. You cannot access it online, but must call AA and they will check the availability of seats available for you to book on Hawaiian air.
The points change as seats fill up, so call early for the lowest points. We prefer to use our AA points on Hawaiian because AA always routes us through LAX whereas Hawaiian has direct flights from the Bay Area airports. And they actually still give you a meal ![]()

Hawaiian Air flights are booked in one-way segments - its 20K miles one-way.

I was able to get one 17,500 seat for this summer, but I made my Resv. at 331 days out.
