purchasing scam..

just got 2 emails wanting to by my timeshare...but I'd get a check for $10,000 and deduct my price and send the remained back to them......hahahahahahaha do people really fall for this?

Unfortunately, people do fall for that scam, as well as a number of others. Take a look at the "how to sell" article located at the top of the list of topics for this Buying, Selling, Renting forum for a description of some other scams to avoid and for some practical advice for generating a successful sale.

Thanks Dave for the good information. Another source for good information is Clark Howard, talk radio or his web site (where I heard about tug2.ent). He is constantly warning about these kind of scams, but it never hurts to get the information out there 'one more time'!!

Why not scam them back and cash the $10,000 and keep it all, (except it will never clear the bank I assume).:whoopie:

Search these threads for the word "nigerian" (these are called nigerian scams, that's where they actually come from 90% of the time).

You will see that the check is often on someone else's hijacked checking account.
