Does anyone know what kind of construction is going on at Barony Beach in Hilton Head? We are checking in on Sunday and concerned about noise. Anyone there now?

Not there now, but I can't wait to get there and see the units after the refurb is complete. If you see anything completed will you post what you think on TUG?

This is from the my-vacationclub.com Barony page:
Please note that the Gardenia, Jasmine, and Morning Glory buildings have been scheduled for refurbishment beginning November 28, 2009 to March 30, 2010. While we do not anticipate any impacts to amenities, construction related activities may be observed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. In addition, painters will be on-site and guests may experience painting related odors in the area. We thank you for your understanding and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

and this is from the GM's Dec, 2009 letter:
Currently the first phase to be completed over the months of November, 2009 – April, 2010 will include the Gardenia (9100), Jasmine (9200) and Morning Glory (9400) buildings. The second phase is scheduled from October, 2010 – March, 2011 and will include the Bayberry (9300), Live Oak (9500) and the Sea Oat (9600) buildings.

As a reminder, the scope of work will include replacement of all of the window treatments, reupholstering of the barstools and dining room chairs, touch-ups of all the wood furniture, painting of the entire villa and replacement of the upholstered chairs and couch, all lamps, carpet, patio furniture, beds, garbage disposals, exhaust fans, and light diffusers. We have two other items that will be addressed as well. We will be changing our tile floors to a wood-style tile that will include an anti-fracture membrane to prevent cracking and popping up of tiles due to floor movement and a smaller grout line to assist with regular upkeep. Also, we will replace the shower doors in the master bathrooms and repair the damaged walls where water damage has occurred from the old shower doors. The new doors will have a “rain-effect” design that will give an upgraded look.

(Gardenia and Jasmine are the two gardenview buildings, Morning Glory is one of the oceanfront/oceanside buildings. Next phase, Bayberry and Live Oak are the two completely-oceanside buildings, Sea Oat is the other oceanfront/oceanside building.)

Very helpful

Headed there for spring break in April.
Just called with a request for a renovated building.
I guess we'll see.:D

I don't have an answer to your question but your user name brings back fond memories of the gnipgnop toy :)

Hmm.. that wouldn't be my request.. We only stay in the ocean sides overlooking the park and center courtyards.. I like being close to the beach and clubhouse.

I should have been specific

I asked for Morning Glory. Representative on the phone told me it's the most requested building.
