With all this discussion on Interval and how best to work the system with our SVN weeks I just made what I believe may be my best trade yet.

On Saturday I deposited my summer 2009 WMH EOY week as two 1BD units in II. This morning I used my small 1 bed and reserved a 3 BED / 3 BATH early ski week at Grand Timber Lodge in Dec 2009.

I stayed at GTL last Dec and it was a very nice resort (TUG reviews has it listed as the best Colorado t/s). I could have reserved slightly later in Dec 2009 for a 2 Bed unit, but thought a 3 Bed would be better (after all, someone I know will appreciate a free vacation...).

If I had more time for vacation, I would be very tempted to purchase one or more additional WMH or SDO weeks just for exchanging with II. At today's prices, they're incredibly low and provide great value when used this way. Obviously, planning far in advance is key to making this work well.

So, this is my best trade (even better than WKORV 1 Bed for the same WMH week). What's *your* best II trade from a SVN resort?

I don't know if I'd call it a great trade, but I just traded my SMV 2Bedroom Silver 2008 for a WMH 1bedroom 2009 Easter Week. According to the Star options table that's trade of 46,500 staroptions for a unit worth 81,000 options. Would anyone consider that a "good" deal? The SMV week cost almost nothing, but the MF are on the high side and over all it hasn't seemed to be a good trader at all.

You are talking about Sheraton Mountain Vista? Yes, those fees are very high for the lockouts, but aren't they all lockouts? So if you can get two trades for one side, it isn't a bad deal. But Silver is really off-season, so the trade you got to Mission Hills is decent. I can pull Mission Hills inventory pretty well with a generic week, though, and my fees are considerably lower, plus I can get that AC for my generic week.

My best trade: A two-bedroom Disney's Boardwalk Villas with the above generic week.

You traded for the large 1 bed at WMH? I had heard that the summer Colorado weeks really didn't do well in trades, and I suppose your history with it proves that theory. But, a spring week at WMH is a good time to be there, and that's sometimes hard to get. Anytime but the summer can be very nice in Palm Springs!

Ironically, a March week is what SVN deposited into II for me, when I released my summer WMH week.

Thanks! I certainly hope so! Last December the first big storm hit Breckenridge the week before we arrived, so I'm hoping for something similar in 2009. It's a bit risky that early in the season, and I was very tempted to take the week after even though it was only a 2Bed just for this reason.

Gold season is summer, silver season would be off-season, weeks 16-20 and 40-46 are the only off-season in CO.

Summer season is very high demand in Colorado, though not as in demand as ski season, and therefore commands very high trading power, as I have discovered in my 27 years of owning Colorado summer weeks. I own only one ski week, and it has only traded equal to the summer weeks, not better.

Why would anyone think people don't want to go to the Colorado Rockies in the summer?

I have been posting RCI sightings with a CO summer week, and you can see the proof that these weeks do trade well. I am just baffled as to why people would think otherwise.

Ach, you're right. I was thinking off-season (ie. mud season) in Colorado and wrote summer since I was also writing about Palm Springs weeks...

And yes, summer in Colorado is great! I'm surprised your ski weeks don't pull more than equal with summer, though.

I've had so many great ones over the years -- Disney at least 5 or 6 times, Harborside several times, Marriott Surf Club in Aruba when it was brand new and not crowded, Hyatt Coconut Plantation (loved it so much ended up buying), Carlton House (?) in London, have sent employees to WSJ and WKORV, and lots more I can't think of right now!. But, I think my favorite trade was a small one-BR SBP for a 2-BR at WSJ.

WOW! :cheer: I would like to be an employee of yours. :p

Great trades, and I am looking forward to some of those resorts, especially WSJ and the Westins on the islands. Our SBP purchase is a surprise lockout, week 14, but we deposited a week 36. I deposited the entire 2 bedroom (didn't know it was a lockout), and have a request for a 2 bedroom Westin Princeville. I hope we get it soon so we can book a Shearwater week before or after. I requested mid-April through the end of May, not including Memorial Day week. :D

I remember reading about your surprise lockout -- that was a great deal. Next year, you should play around with depositing it as 2 separate halves -- especially if you can get Starwood to deposit a good week. Have you booked something yet?

I hope you get your trade. There were April and May weeks in the last (first?) bulk banking, right? Hopefully they'll do another one. I think they will -- at least for the post-Easter April and May weeks. Good luck!

Thanks, Jerseygirl. I am watching every morning for those bulk bankings. I just want to see 'em. I think it will be exciting! :)

I haven't seen anything since Lagunamar and trust me I've been looking.

Though not as diligently as Jerseygirl and Cindy.

No, I think Lagunamar was the last one. I was referring to the big bulk deposit of the new Princeville units -- I think it was in May  . I believe that one included some April weeks (so hoping there's another one -- otherwise, Cindy may have missed it  ).

I think late May is when they did a big deposit of ski weeks out for LT and SMV.

I think it was before earlier than that I saw 2-2brs at WKV for the week before Easter(my spring break week).
