All,

Does anyone have pictures from the Ko Olina 2BR PH OV? I recall from a tour [edited: of a Mountain View PH] that it has high ceilings, but curious if there is anything else about the unit that is unique. Does anyone else have comments from staying in the unit?

Best,

Greg

Hmm. I almost bought a penthouse but the salesperson at the time said it did not have vaulted ceilings.

We toured a Mountain View penthouse, so maybe the OV's don't have it....

Greg, we toured a PH at one point and I think it was OV. It had vaulted ceilings. However, that was a while ago and I don't recall for sure. Others will have more clear memories, I'm sure.

We exchanged into a 2 bedroom OV penthouse in 2013. We were in the Na'ia building, 16th floor at the end of the new wing. I think I have pictures from the unit looking towards the JW Hotel, but I don't think I have any of the interior. I'll check my pictures.

I recall it did have high ceilings, but other than that it was just like the standard units. I think it was a lock-off? Could ask DH, but he doesn't notice these things.

It was a great unit with an incredible view!!

We have stayed in OV Penthouse a couple of times. The AC did not seem to work as well as it does in regular units, though we do like our rooms colder than average. The view was great and the layout the same as all other floors. Only difference was vaulted ceilings.

Penthouse has vaulted ceilings in the living room ans master bedroom. I dont remeber if the studio had vaulted ceilings. The AC dont work as good because of the higher ceilings.

All penthouse units should have vaulted ceilings regardless of the views. The real advantage to me is that there's no one above you and you won't get a parking lot view. I just booked a MV penthouse and they sent me this.

Accommodation Type: 2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Villa - Penthouse Mountain View (Non Lock-off, one entrance) – TPPT

The last few times I have stayed in the PH units they were not lockoffs so I m not sure if they are all like that.

Did you stay in PH units in Naia? I think all are lockoffs in the first two buildings. Even if not all are, I know most in those first two buildings are definitely lockoffs.

Yes we were in Na'ia, so maybe that was why it wasa nonlockoff 2 br. But the reservation acknowledgeMent. Showed I was in a non lockoffs. But I didn't think they assigned buildings until closer to check in date (May).

Being up that high even the MV PH units in Na'ia have a view of the harbor and some water.

There is a YouTube video that was posted almost 3 years ago by someone selling a Marriott Ko Olina OV Penthouse. It has shots of the interior:

Greg, I'm curious as to why you are asking.

All,

Thank you for the thoughtful responses, they are very helpful.

Dewnay,

We are evaluating our Spring Break 2016 travel plans. We'd planned to return to MOC but have some friends that expressed interest in Oahu, and so we are looking at Ko Olina as a travel options. It's surprisingly difficult to book the 2BR PH. There were none of them available at the 13 month month (literally, Zero) using points, and then fragments have started to appear. I know there are 10 fully intact 2BR PH's in the Trust, so who knows why there were Zero at month 13 (and where'd the fragments come from?). Thank you for the youtube video, that is very helpful!

Best,

Greg

[Removed because this was primarily a post on fragments -- started a new thread]

We own a MV PH at Ko Olina and recently stayed in an OV PH. Stayed in the MV in both Moana and Kona towers. The OV was in Naia. I'm not sure there is a MV PH in Naia. All the PH have vaulted ceilings. There really isn't any difference beyond that. Love the PHs.

Be aware, PHs can be on either of the top 2 floors, I believe. Layouts are the same as normal 2 BRs. The higher ceiling is the real difference.

Here is a resort map showing the unit views for all three buildings. The penthouse units are top floor only. Looks like all of the OV penthouses are lockoffs, but the MV penthouses can be either lockoff or dedicated 2 bedroom, depending on the tower.

Thank you for posting this, I've not seen this view grid before.

I've stayed in a non top floor penthouse. They exist.

It's because the roof is graduated. Some of the penthouses are lower floors, but there isn't anything above them. The penthouse units at the end of the hall won't be at the top floor, but still have beautiful views!!
