We are visiting PV in February after a 5 year absense. This time we are staying at the Buganvillas. In the past we knew which restaurants were good/reasonably priced/etc etc. But now we'd like to update our list. Most of the restaurants mentioned in PV sticky were for Nuevo. In the past we were closer to the Marina so frequented some of those. Since we are close to Centro this trip, we'd like to concentrate there.

Thanks so much
Diane

Hey there Karen,
We don't arrive until Feb 18. Us poor Canadians can only afford 2 weeks in paradise :bawl:

We are at the Buganvilias right now and have been pleased with all the changes to downtown PV since we were here last year in earyl November. The vacant lot next door has been cleaned up and they had the Beach Volleyball portion of the PanAm games there last week. We have been told that the Malecon will be extended all the way to that area and it will have restaurants and shops there in the future.

Currently, the Malecon starts at the McDonald's now. The road detours the block before and the vehicles are on the street behind until it gets to the Sr. Frogs that is near where it ran along the Malecon last year. This sure helps walking around and easier to get to the Romantica Zone. They have planted a lot of palm trees and all of the planters and the wall between the walkway and beach will have seating areas. It is looking great!!!

El Andriego is close to the Buganvilias and is nice and the food is very good. Just on the side street by the Pemex station is Pepe's Tacos - good lunch place and cheap. The 3 of us had 8 tacos and 6 beers for 300 pesos. Around the corner from there is another place we like for lunch - Tacon de Marlin. We always eat at the one across from the airport when we arrive in PV, then catch a taxi to the resort.

Our favorite restaurant is Ochos Tostados which is on the other side of the stadium, directly across from the Buganvilias. The only problem is that they close early - 6:30ish.

Karen, Jan. 14 is week 2 not week 3. So I guess that pushes all your week back one? We won't see you - we are at VDP/VDM weeks 1-4 this year.

One of our favorite places to eat if not our favorite place in old PV is the Hacienoa San Angel at sunset. It is also a boutique hotel. The grounds and the building are unlike any other place in PV. The food and service and the views of the city light at night are excelant. Most nights they have a 9 piece Mariachi band. Take a cab to the door as the hilly street is steep and rough.

Go to the website. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re..._San_Angel-Puerto_Vallarta_Pacific_Coast.html

In 2012 we will be at the Lindo Mar Week 3 in unit 304 and week 4 in unit 204.

Maybe we can get a group get togeher somewhere?

I keep a running list of our favorites and new finds. We stay in Old Town/ Zona Romantica, so most are there or in El Centro. If you PM me your email address, I will send it to you. If anyone else wants it, just PM me.

Diane,
We just tried a newer restaurant behind Plaza Caracol (where the Soriana is) called Las Adelitas. I had the chicken fried steak (milenesa) that was great!
We like Cafe de Ollas in the Romantic Zone. Just tried asian this visit down at Archies Wok in the Romantic Zone (we went twice) plus another next door to that, The Peking Restaurant was good, also. THE best fish tacos are at a really clean street vendor, called Marisma in Romantic Zone, kinda out of the way, but most taxi drivers seem to know where it is.
Enjoy your vacation, as we're just wrapping up ours Wed.

New to the forum

Hello,

Please forgive this small hijack - but I don't want to start a new topic, if I can be quickly directed.

I'm looking for good info on timeshare resales in PV. I'm new to timeshares, too! Where should I go?

Thanks!
Tom

Welcome. Have you been to any timeshares or stayed in any timeshares in PV? Suggest you join Tug and check out the Tug member resort reviews before bidding on or buying anything in PV.

IMHO I suggest you rent or exchange into a timeshare you find interesting before you even think about buying anywhere in PV. Note a lot of Mexican resorts has certain rules, restrictions that you need to know about before buying. That is why Tug and Timeshare Forums are valuable sources in avoiding huge purchase mistakes.

If you go to PV go on tours for checking the resort and get paid hundreds of dollars but do not buy from any resort. Between doing tours and reading Tug and other reviews like Trip Advisor you will find out what resorts may best meet your needs.

Then check ebay to see the completed auctions to find were the bottom of the resale market is price wise. Also check the many other places like Tugs link for resale companies http://tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17673 , Vacation Timeshare Rentals , Redweek, My resorts and other resale sites.

Mark and I would love a tug-fest. Last time in PV we met up with Patti Vessy and her family. I can't seem to find her on Tug anymore, does anyone know how she is?

Maryann, so good to hear from you. Did you know I'm a grandma now? :)

Scitchi I have sent you a pm.

Thanks so much for all these wonderful suggestions!

Would love to have a your listing. We have not been to PV for 5 years but trying to get there this winter. Have you heard anything about Villas Mediterraneous? Just on south side of old PV on hillside.

Ruth, thanks so very much for sending your list after we got back from the Lindo Mar in PV this weekend. We had the 3 bedroom penthouse.

We will be staying in our own 2 bed 2 bath units at Lindo Mar Jan 21 Feb 4, 2012.

Sorry our Dec 22-29 PV reservation at does not work for you.
