I just have to write this.... I know many of you have purchased several timeshares and maybe it's old hat to you, but I just bought one and I'm really, really excited. You see.... I didn't pay a penny. Nothing. Not even any closing costs. I found my ideal unit in an ideal resort for an ideal week for free. I'm in shock ... It took 9 weeks to complete the transaction and I kept waiting for it to fall thru or to find out it's a hoax or, more likely, someone telling me "and now you owe $$xxxx." But nope. It's mine. And I didn't pay a penny. I used Timeshare Nation and have only good things to say about them. :cheer::cheer:

Because of TUG, I realized this was possible. Since my needs were very specific, I thought for sure I would need to either pay high re-sale or, God forbid, buy from the developer. I wanted a 3 bedroom unit at a Gold Crown resort for a summer week within driving distance from our home and with reasonable M.Fee's. Big request. But in less than 10 months of looking occasionally on-line, I got it. I now own 2 weeks at Smugglers Notch in the gorgeous mountains of Vermont. It is a family resort with tons of activities and should be perfect for my daughter & her young boys who live 3 hours from there. I can see years of vacations for them.

I used Timeshare Nation. Ryan Lipp and LeeAnn went thru the whole process with me. They were extremely professional & responded quickly. I received emails from them when a unit became available that fit my requirements. How easy is that? I saw some that didn't fit the bill but most were close. And then Smugglers appeared and I grabbed it. I made one phone call to make sure I understood the details, then it was emails to sign the necessary doc's, send them a pic of our drivers licenses, and that was it. I couldn't believe it was that easy.

For free. We start paying Maintenace Fee's next year. And they are reasonable. Less than $1k per week for a spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bath condo.

Just to make this a truly Fairy-tale story, the 2nd week (float week) happens to be next week. Foliage season in Vermont. The previous owners paid the MFee's for this year so we are going for free. Truly free.

Thank you TUG for helping me believe this could happen. I am so greatful!

Congratulations!

We love Smuggs!

I ended up with a free timeshare at our home resort through Sumday. It is Christmas week most years...so most of the time, we don't trade. It CAN happen!

Enjoy your vacation!

That's Great!

We have owned at Smuggs since 1999! Still go every year.We own 2 weeks (fixed week 30 and a floater)in Sycamores/West Hill.

What unit/building/week do you own?

We used Timeshare Nation when Ryan first started the company and worked with him and LeeAnn to acquire our 2nd timeshare in your neck of the woods- Innseason Pollard Brook in Lincoln. We have week 31 there and go there directly after our week 30 at Smugglers Notch! We were just as thrilled as you so I know the feeling!

Enjoy!:cheer:

You helped me with some of my questions back in July when I was considering doing this! Your love of Smuggs definitely made the decision easier for me! Thank you! We have week 26 in Sycamores (like you). Our unit is Y36 in bldg C.

I can't wait to go in 1.5 weeks. Count down!

With all the issues and problems posted here, it's great to hear a positive result. ENJOY !

--------------
I myself had a good result recently when a fellow TUG'ger gave away his HGVC-affiliated TS. It started about July 31st and, despite a delay by me, in the span of six weeks, the deed was recorded & transfer done at the resort... Just in time to get the MF bill. But for $200 to LT Transfers and $335 to Hilton... I'm not complaining.

I wish I lived closer to this one, but living in MI, does not bode well for me buying here...ugh, this really sounds like my kind of resort.

I also used Timeshare Nation, Ryan and LeeAnn were wonderful. I gave my timeshare away, they found a new owner and we had a smooth transition in a timely manner. The cost was reasonable and due only upon completion of transfer. I would highly recommended using them to acquire or help you find a new owner.

Wow, that is impressive, folks from England buying at Smuggs...I had to pay big bucks for my summer week in MI but its been worth it, because I can not drive more than 4 hours now in a car and air travel adds up quickly when you are taking 4 people...

this sounds way to good to be true, since I just purchased a additional week with 128 points on converting over to wyndham. I have till Monday night to cancel, so do tell how I can replicate your experience.

Are you saying you converted a smuggs unit to Wyndham? How much did this cost you? Rescind now! Then give more details as to what you are asking.

Don't wait until Monday. Get the rescind in the mail first thing tomorrow! Good deals on resale units happen. You just have to hunt for them.....

.... and be patient and specific with what you want.

I was on site and cancelled in person.
That's kind of a ballsy move. They often sic all the big guns on people who try to rescind to get them to change their mind. Sweetening the pot, lowering the price, throwing in perks. So, now that it's done, you can start shopping the resales on the Bargain Deals forum, or the Marketplace, or eBay. Great deals are where you find them. But beware, sometimes even a free timeshare is not a great deal. If it doesn't work for you, it's no deal. So we recommend renting a fw times, in different systems, Just hanging around the various forums on TUG will help you understand some of the nuances. Good luck, and congratulations on the rescission.

How did you rescind onsite? The contract gives an address to mail (certified mail must be done to PROVE you sent it with the time limits) your rescind letter to.

What PROOF do you have that will legally PROVE you rescinded the purchase? Tomorrow is Monday.

Get to the post office ... that woman might not have the POWER to accept your 'letter' .. she could have been a temporary clerk ... a janitor ... someone's friend, or another salesperson who trashed your "letter" for her BFF, etc.
