My cox.net email account allows messages flagged as spam on the big computer to sail right on in to the iPad. On the upside, on the rare occasion that something that is not spam gets sent to the spam folder I am likely to see it two or three days earlier on the iPad than when I check my spam folder on the main computer. Is there a setting somewhere that isn't set?

Depends on what email client server software you are using. The O/S for your desktop will be different than the iOS found in the iPad. Email clients for both will also different.

You can get apps for the iPad that can mirror the email client on your desktop but most people usually will first use the email reader already resident in the iOS of the iPad. The tech geeks are going to want to know what software you are using on the desktop vs your iPad.

Sounds like you're using an email client on your desktop that is handling the spam, not cox. If cox was identifying the messages as spam then they would likely display similarly on all devices you connect to it. And/or, you've got an old fashioned POP email account which would also act independently.

Either way, you need to learn your setup or get someone to assist. Good luck!

Like Ken555 said, sounds like you are using a POP instead of an IMAP email account through cox.

Thanks everyone! Cliff believe's we do have a POP email account, neither one of us have ever heard the term "email client" before, and I have decided that the answer to "Why does my iPad let spam in?" can be best summed up as "Because it does!". Not bothersome enough to pursue any further!
